A heads up, OP; I would avoid loaning to PIP. He has had intentions of farming trust as seen here, following the example of a lot of loaners around here.

EDIT: Never mind, looks like wording got a bit confused. Link.

Thanks for making me aware for this complaint of Fishbones78.

I responded to the "compaint". He got me totally wrong. I wanted to receive positive feedback whether he wants to fill my loan request. Nothing more. I think this is very different than asking for positive trust.

I'm still trying to work this out. If this user though that the other user was farming for positive trust, why not give them negative trust?

Asking for positive trust is very different from forcefully demanding it. Trust is also revokable.

I gotta ask a newb question: what is the goal of the borrower to borrow such small sums?  Is it to aggregate it into a larger sum to pay off a ....utility bill or something like that?  I just don't understand why someone would want/need to borrow a couple of bucks

If you think this is small loan, people ask loan requests for a few pennies ,almost worthless in any real life scenarios. The reasons could be any, doubt people reveal real reasons in most of the cases.Gambling/Sports Betting/Investor Based Games could be a few reasons but mentioned them will void the chances of you getting the loan.People literally scam for few pennies here.Welcome to bitcoin. You didn't answer his question.

Here's my answer to it: it's because most of the people getting loans here are people who don't have opportunities to make the couple bucks, or convert dollars into bitcoin fast enough for what they need it for. Reasons include their age (being young), where they live, conditions, etc.

But some of them look to farm trust by getting loans (and again, an apology to PIP for falsely calling you out on Fishbones's accusation).

OK, so it seems as though it is more a quick gamble/bet or a scam thing.  Or...a few bucks to me is worth a lot to someone else.  I forgot to take into account that these loans are probably worldwide.

I am familiar only with your typical bitcoin arbitrage.  I'm on LBC a lot.

I have also been a lurker on this forum, decided to full commitment sign up, trying to learn as much as possible.
