Every time I try to explain bitcoin to my girlfriend, she asks, "what's mining" and "why"?  So I try to explain the need for consensus and lose her after two sentences.

She still has yet to put even one dollar into bitcoin and I hope she gets in before the halving (which she really can't comprehend).  Plus she makes more money than me which makes me want to convince her even more. But I showed her this Daily Decrypt and she had a much longer attendtion span because the host is a woman.  Jealousy?  I don't know but it worked.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VQGlcLFhwE0

So now I am looking for other women who explain bitcoin like Andreas, who is great, but ineffective in this application (another boring man).

The daily decrypt is a little more advanced than I need right now.  Looking for more basic info.  Like I said, I have yet to convince her that bitcoin is even worth putting ten bucks into.

 Thanks in advance.

i think its too hard  explain to anyone, who has no idea about it and had no touch on it yet. the only way to make them interested about it is one sentence: "if you want something new, modern and very interesting, just search in internet about bitcoins and crypto values and you will learn many new things" and just wait until they will understand themselves on what we are talking about

I had the same thing, with the women at work, until I bought jewelry with it and they saw that it was "real" money. They used to say, it's virtual money with no "real" value. I am not saying women is less intelligent than men, but rather naturally more cautious and sometimes more over analytical. Men jump into most things with bravado, where women will asses the situation first and then jump in. Do not force her into something, just provide all the information and let her decide on her own. If something goes wrong, you can turn around and say, Nobody forced you. ^smile^

I don't think it's necessary to explain all the technical details, not even mining itself to somebody when you're just trying to get her to agree to let you invest your own money into bitcoin.

Just explain it as an investment oportunity. Explain that it's a digital good which you can buy for money, and that you have a good feeling that the price will rise in the near future, so you'll have a decent chance of making some extra cash by investing in this digital good.

That way, you're still covered in the event the price drops (since you explained that it was an investment oportunity).

Leave her the hell alone when it comes to this subject. Nothing good will come of it. No matter what happens it'll always be your fault. Goes up? You didn't get her to buy enough. Goes down, you talked her into it. Hacked, wallet failure, meteor takes out every exchange - your fault.

Exactly... As much as we would all like to convince everyone around us to buy Bitcoin, you just can't force it upon anyone. I get that some people are pushing for converting others to up the value in Bitcoin, but it's just not worth the effort and solidifcation of Bitcoin's poor reputation.

Now, that's just in regards to friends and acquaintances. When it comes to your SO, you absolutely should NOT be trying to force them into anything financially. There is absolutely nothing good that will come from forcing your reluctant girlfriend into Bitcoin. If she makes more money than you, OP, she probably isn't a clueless person.
