5830s are out at the major retailers, I think the next to go soon is the 6950s followed by the 6970s.  6990s will be coming back in stock in a few weeks, but they will probably be swooped up very quickly.  If you're out of plugs in your house, maybe you can go into the video card hoarding/resell business after all the good cards dry up? 5830s are not out of stock. I just posted in another thread a stash of 449 5830s. They're a little more expensive but still a better MHash/$ buy than a 6950.

0 have been bought since I posted.

Come on bitcoin, show me your buying powahs.

How is newegg any more major a retailer than nextdaypc? They're basically warehouses of computer parts with website fronts. THe link I posted has 449 5830s, they're not some mom and pop store.

 Go, buy!

I am not sure that stock number is accurate, especially since you said the number hasn't gone down since you told everyone about it.
Maybe someone can order a bunch and report back.

Here's a review recently from resellerratings about the accuracy of stock numbers:

"posted May-31-2011

Absolute WORST Company. Parts were not on stock even though the website said 30 available, and continue to say 30 available. Customer service reps were rude..."

ATI 5770 - can get about 233 MH/s - you can find them for $100.00 or under - they use 100 watts at full

Quote
Radeon 5770 offers the best low cost investment option for bitcoin mining. It comes cheap, delivers a punch and isn’t really power hungry – at a little over 100 watts at full load, PSU upgrade is not needed even if you are using cheaper power supply unit

source - http://www.smpake.com/?p=59

Oh, and i just bought one, for $94.49 - that is with shipping Cheesy

Some stats: if you buy 4 at $100 = $400 .. your 800 MH/s can bring in ฿43.11    ($1,273.17) per month
with NEXT WEEK increased difficulty .. that is still - ฿33.95 ($1,002.49) per month ....

wish i had some money for some more Sad donations please .. of course i will give you kickbacks later Cheesy

So they really didn't have any stock to begin with, or they sold 449 cards in less than 24 hours
