Trading car = car.com? gold = gold.com/metal.com? oil = oil.com?

Maybe we will not need any domain that contain bitcoin afterall...

using free TLD even a premium domain like bitcoin.ga is not cool, many developer still just consider it as a trashy domain, that wouldn't gain an interest,i honestly would prefer the .com even not premium rather than  .ga or even worse .tk
Yeah I really don't care if the domain is .ga. I would much rather a .com domain but that is probably going to be even more expensive.

People can basically ask ANY price for their domain, but that doesn't say the domain is worth that amount. There are people with average (less than $100) valued Bitcoin related domains, but they are asking insanely high amounts as $10,000 and some even $100,000. Pure madness. Cheesy

I paid $8.59 for BitcoinUncovered.com - I expect there are other usable Bitcoin names still unregistered if you spend time looking.

Here's one that I've just noticed. BitcoinTrivia.com - could make an interesting site about tit-bits of info about Bitcoin and it's history.

Offgrid campers allow you to enjoy life and preserve your health and wealth.
Save old Cars - my project to save old cars from scrapage schemes, and to reduce the sale of new cars.
My new Bitcoin transfer address is - bc1q9gtz8e40en6glgxwk4eujuau2fk5wxrprs6fys

Definitely, Bitcoin is a very popular name and it would be worth tremendous amounts of money, all linked or related popular codes like co.uk, .co etc... have already been taken and even the less popular are worth huge amounts of money.

That is normal price for big website names or extensions. If you place it high in Google you can do efforts with that extensions.

The .com etc... are not available that's why the default price is shown, the less popular extensions are for sale but I doubt they would get the requested amount as it seems so high for country-specific extensions.

There is nothing technical about .com that makes it better than any other TLD and furthermore, there are a ton of trashy scammy sites on .com

The complete lack of logic in the general population is just mind boggling.

So someone has bought these obscure TLD's and now they are reselling them for $5000 a pop. There must be some really gullible people that would fall for this or else they won't be doing such a stunt  Grin

The way domain squatting works, you register a bunch cheap and then ask a very high price.

It only takes one sale at a really high price for you to easily pay the reg / rereg fees for all the domains that didn't sell *and* make a profit.

Illogical thinking like that found in the post I quoted before this post are why they can get really high prices for some of the domains.

Don't buy from squatters.

Looking at the insane prices these domain squatters charge, I find it hard to believe they will be able to sell one of their domains. They will end up paying more in renewal fees at the end of the year considering some of them have hundreds of domains. It will cost them more than they earn.

There are some registry premium domains whis are sold by their respective registry for a higher price.
Registry premium domains are
a select list of domain names
that are sold at a premium
price set by the Central
Registry. The Central Registries
for these domains charge a
premium registration price due
to the estimated higher value
of the domain name.

If you search various tlds, almost all are taken for bitcoin or the remaining ones are priced high

Yeah I don't go for those either, no badly how much I want the domain.

They also usually have a higher renewal fee so it is constant tax you are paying to the registry - giving them your hard-earned money when they did nothing.

striptease.video is an example - $2,500 USD / yr (even more at that ripoff place godaddy).

I guess the .video TLD hasn't heard that porn websites really aren't that profitable. Ridiculous.

It highly depends. There are indeed domain traders that register a bunch of crappy domains and are asking beyond insane price for them. These guys won't sell anything. But there are also domain traders with a great portfolio where they make a few domain sales some times worth tens of thousands of Dollars.

Nowadays registrars are squatters too. They simply register/buy the best domains before they are even open to the public for purchasing. They ask thousands of Dollars for good domains with shitty extensions that barely any one can use. It has proven to be a very lucrative market for them.

They do sell, it is just rare. But often enough they turn a profit. They are the low lifes of the squatting industry.

Domainers who charge a fair price and lower when it doesn't sell, those domainers I don't mind and don't consider them to be squatters. I consider them to be protecting domains I may want but haven't yet thought of from the squatters.

Well, all sorts of people are being attracted by this "nowadays not very profitable" industry for the average person. Renewal costs will make them let the majority of their domains expire after the first year since no one is interested in them. They will be available for the public again.
