I don't know about that, but people are very suspicious of it and it definitely seems to install some sort of spyware onto peoples' computers, I'm just playing it safe and sticking with Windows 7.

Yeah, people generally don't like it. Me neither, I will stick to Windows 8 as long as this will be possible.

I have been advised that i shouldnt download windows 10, bye my dad he installed it and had problems right away,  he recovered his old windows and it was fine again.
Now my friend installed it on his laptop and because he had it longer then 1 month,  he couldnt get his old windows back anymore.

So i would wait till windows 10 dont has his beginner problems anymore

Two computer guys I know recommended that I not install Windows 10.  I don't know the exact reason, but I think it could affect performance.  I'm going to stay away from it for now.

Windows 10 seems to continue the new tradition of making the consumer the product of value instead of just offering a single sale service or software. I'll hold off upgrading to the latest Microsoft OS for as long as reasonably possible, the first users are usually guinea pigs if history has anything to show for it.

If you did want to install it, I'd suggest doing a FULL backup of EVERY (primary) partition on your computer.
This way, you whould be able to restore it, but store it on a separate hard drive.

why do people always worry about stuff when its a bunch of made up crap XD there was a rumor going around saying windows 10 reports what your doing to microsoft.... that got alot of attention. but the true reason some guy "proved" it was because the clock on windows 10 wanted to check  it was correct and his router wouldnt let it so it kept trying generating "alot of traffic"

honestly with Microsofts links do you really think there that interested in your vacation pictures?

and anyone who upgrades and it goes wrong and you havnt backed up your crap then no1 its your own fault for being stupid and no2 its a simple ass problem to fix

windows 10 does need a beefier machine same as windows 7 needed a beefier machine than windows xp (pretty logical really)

and last but not least if you dont understand upgrading then simply dont do it.

by the way all windows 8 and 8.1 drivers work on windows 10 (some need a bit of convincing) so if you upgrade a laptop and stuff dosnt work your probably missing drivers

An operating system should not be transferring data out of your computer without your permission, period, it's that simple, if you care about privacy at all you'd understand why it's a bad thing but clearly you don't so if something happens to you that's your own fault.

I'm using windows 7 for a long time, but now after all i have read here and elsewhere, i'm going to use only linux.
I don't have much knowledge. Which linux distro should i use?

Windows will be always target for many viruses especially now when they can steal your wallet very easy or encrypt your entire system with all documents. No thanks.

I have to say, I like most linx oses.
I think you can now use raspbian on normal computers and the other favourite of many is Ubuntu.

Remember to try to learn some of the commandline commands first, some will boot in terminal first unless you select otherwise, if you don't now the commands you have to quickly find them.

I think for shutting down you use "shutdown -h now" (pretty useful for installing applications as you have ewer tasks running.

But one thing i like in windows is plug and play., and problem with drivers are very rare from my experience.
And using is very pleasant.. But when we talk about security Linux is most advanced system. Windows 10 i don't have desire even to try.

Its basically a big malware made to spy you and there is proof of that everywhere, why dont you switch to linux? you get all the cool stuff minus the botnet, and distros like ubuntu/mint/.. are very user friendly and provide you with all the needed drivers of course.

What do you say for Ubuntu live-dvd or installed on USB. You can use it without fear of viruses or malwares if you are smart not to download suspicious files. I don't believe that Microsoft will have such success as with Windows 7.
But there is certain group of people who will use this Win 10 no matter what.

Not only does Windows nag you to update to 10, it also phones home massively, like screenshots of what you're doing. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/windows-10-sends-personal-data-to-microsoft-even-if-users-tell-it-not-to-10453549.html

Right,so, Bitcoin is a rabbit hole, so eventually you'll find that continuing being a Windows user is very counterproductive to educate you to become privacy- and security-aware enough.

Linux Mint or Zorin OS are the best options for casual users migrating from Windows 7 I guess.

But this is also just a rabbit hole, eventually you'll need less and less Windows compatibility and focus more on learning Linux, so eventually you'll land at Arch Linux or similar.
