How many days does Bill Murray's character relive Groundhog Day?

Ok I know we are past Groundhog Day, but I just came across that movie on Netflix and was wondering what you think.  How many days does Bill Murray's character relive Groundhog Day?  I ask the question because your answer tells a lot about whether you appreciate this movie or not.  I know a lot of people that hate it because Bill Murray is annoying and the day keeps repeating. I like the move but I think you have to really understand some things in order it to really get it, like how many times he relives that day and the kind of person he starts out to be and the kind of person he turns into.  I don't think there is a known answer, just a approximate number.  Just curious.

I hate to tell you, but you are all way off.  He relives the same day for about 10 years.  The movie only shows about 35 or so days, but what it doesn't show is the time he take to become an expert at the piano, ice sculptures, learning some French, 6 months for tossing the cards in the hat, etc.  He also memorizes the timing to steal money from the armored car, timing for catching a boy from the tree, timing for being at the right place to save the mayor who is choking, and all the info about the people in the town.  The director (Harold Ramis) estimated about 10 years.  I had guessed between 5 and 10 years.  Others have estimated that it could be more than 30 years to do all the things he did.
