I've seen alot of threads about Ethereum/Monero/Dash, but what do you guys think about Litecoin? Is it a sleeping giant? Maybe once the Bitcoin halving occurs and the price shoots up, Litecoin will follow. Please leave your thoughts/predictions below.  Smiley

I would guess that good old speculation aside, the present alt bonkersdom is based on predicted future utility. It's over a couple of years since the last one and look how much more has been learnt and how much more interest there is from businesess, governments etc.

That's where major explosions are likely to be born. While I'm not educated or sold on ETH and friends, speculators are going to follow the potential and LTC doesn't have much of it right now. I'm sure there's room for LTC to rise but if you're looking for a buck there are far sexier prospects in the short term.

After the reality hits that the 2.0 coins are mostly hyped scams. Maybe the community will come back to the proof-of-work coins such as Litecoin and Monero.

Selling ETH and buying Litecoin and XMR might end up being a good trade at some point?

I think you are correct when you said that Litecoin is a sleeping giant.Minimal movement as of now, something on hibernating stage.Traders prefers fast moving coins where they can profit.

After halving,Im expecting Litecoin to gain also.

Bitcoin and Litecoin are still the 2 most trusted coins to date...nobody is even sure if Ethereum can truly stand on its own as yet or if it's a fly by night project.

yes litecoin has one thing over all the alts; trust.

trust is pretty important to currency, all the innovation to sell snake oil hype makes some coins have a small moments of shine, but trust is needed for longterm survival as a genuine currency.

Well your looking at a small time frame.
This is Litecoin chat central.. go count how many topics there are about them.

Then let's estimate how many are drama with accusations of Scam.
Very few !

Then let's factor in the user base of Altcoins is kids with ADD with money to burn who care about nothing but profits NOW !

You know how many times i have heard while discussing Altcoin with people that XYZ coin is "boring" ?
A lot !

In order to amuse & entertain the kid buying Altcoins (yes children / Altcoins are mostly for babies with Doge coin)
You have to implement some sort of Flashing colors and honking horns or something.

"Jiggle Daddy's Keys"

..would be popular coin IPO for example.

So rather than rehashing things people don't want to re-type out what they have already on LTC ..again.
I think LTC can be considered more on the longer term when it comes to projections etc.
It's not a pyramid scheme for pumpers and impatient Kidiots.

Note: I have none and haven't for a loooong time but i support LTC Smiley

I also take issue with the grand assumption that When BTC halves it will for sure sky rocket in value.
This is no rule at all.
But there may be an element of self-fulfilling prophecy about it though.
Since the BTC crowd is waiting for some activity then this might MAKE it happen.. get it ?

Tale LTC or PPC etc ..not enough happens with them that amuses kids so they get bored & wander off dumping / ignoring.
When in reality you should be concerned with what coins WORK and have potential for mass adoption.
AND.. what is likely to get big one day.. which i think is going to *potentially be an older coin rather than over complicated crap like ETH, BTC, Monero etc.

Notice i didn't get into talking about Litecoin to much ?
Use the forum search button for the best possible info to aggregate.

EDIT:
Also confident supporters & dev's etc do not NEED to hype & spam on about a coin..
..such as Monero with their advertising shenanigans or Dash attacks.. 725 page "Speculation" topic ? ROFL

They need to rebrand Litecoin to appeal to the proper crowd..
Foreigners from 3rd world countries who come to Crypto to profit big lambo's !
..and get their first pair of shoes (yes shoe ownership is a BIG deal in some parts of the world)

So..

Rebrand Litecoin to get your "First Pair of Shoes Coin" ..shoe ownership has responsibilities though !

Here is LTC's new Coin Icon..

bitcoin will remain strong because it is the second, like doge is the best meme coin, but aside from the pump and dump that will happen on each halving i can not see much developments on it
it's useful to remember that ltitecoin has a nice thing about the block limit for the capacity issue, that bitcoin suffer

Lots of good things in store for Litecoin. You can check out development plans for 2016 at link supplied below.

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features currently being developed look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value.

The currency can gain a lot of value if they get accepted into larger businesses and the possibility of bitcoin & litecoin is by far the maximum among all coins.

buying Litecoin might end up being a good trade at some point?
well, Ten years from now it would at least be much more worthy than today cause all these good functioning coins are a lot undervalued as of now.

If Litecoin implemented anonimity and instant transaction it would be a Bitcoin killer. Development stopped - Litecoin dead.

Talk about bullshit hahhahaha

If Litecoin adopted less anonymity it would be a Bitcoin competitor (more so than already)

Anon coins are a bad idea.
Pushing to make them as Anon as possible is counter-productive.
A variety of factors contribute to this..
DO i have to re type out the same long winded rants explaining then get bitched at for doing it ?
I created a topic on this that none of you care about.

Development stopped ?
Ok when was the last commit ? Do you know ?

Can you guys be honest around here for once please ?

LTC is still good opportunity. I cannot find either one reason why not to invest in this?
But when i'm thinking about ICO IPO, i don't need hard proofs for scam.
Just because it is not popular at the moment, doesn't mean this is bad coin.

I have never understood Litecoin.  It is a 4 times bigger and faster than bitcoin, but as an alt it isn't traded as much or as safe.
It offers basically nothing over bitcoin.  Other alts have advantages (and disadvantages) but usually have something different to bitcoin.

Litecoin has 4 times more coins and is 4 times faster.
