A new report from Bitcoinist is saying that the highly-publicized London Bitcoin Forum is probably a scam that cheated lots of people out of their money. What's even crazier is that some big Bitcoin news sites silently removed their reports on the Forum once they caught wind of the scam. CoinDesk, Bitcoinist, and BraveNewCoin are a few of the big sites that reported on the scam. Out of those three, it looks like Bitcoinist is the only one to give its readers an update. With anything bitcoin related it pays to assume everything's a scam until proven otherwise. Sucks for the victims but I ain't surprised.

The thing with Coindesk is, money. They publish something (not all but some) when they get certain money and it could also be related that they paid them to remove the article as well (we never know unless we could link one of their addresses doing transaction in between). In the article, you didn't mention for how long Olivia haven't respond to in regards to scam and fake linkedin account? Although this was the first time, me hearing about the london forum, what was the assurance that people purchased tickets? Any more known people involved?

I think it would be the right thing for all sites who reported on it to at least acknowledge what happened rather than pretend like it didn't happen. |

I think everyone who endorsed or shown support should write about this and apologize to their users and promise increased carefully and scrutiny on new topics rather than just pretending of not noticing and moving on without saying anything.

It is a major embarrassment and they want to keep their hands clean, when the shit hits the fan. A lot of people might want to hold them liable for advertising this event, without checking their facts. If anyone dug a little deeper, they would have known this was a scam from the start. {unconfirmed venue}  |

A lot of people might want to hold them liable for advertising this event, without checking their facts. If anyone dug a little deeper, they would have known this was a scam from the start. {unconfirmed venue} Regardless, the best move would be to own up to the mistake instead of trying to hide it. |
