The most common mistakes of newbies in my observation:

1. Trusting users from the currency exchange section with big amounts without using an escrow.
2. Spamming the Beginners & Speculation section with similar posts and getting banned.
3. Posting referral links.
4. Asking for a loan without collateral.

Trust, trust, trust! Be careful, that's all I'm saying. There's no such thing as an amazing bargain these days, even in the bitcoin/altcoin world. And right when a think crosses your mind that this may be too good to be true, you are probably right. Doublecheck is gold.

One more reason is due to the introduction of lot of trusted exchange sites, users easily believe in those fraud sites and looses all their investment.

Yup, look at all the previous past events.

The most recent one for exchanges is when the altcoin crypsty just locked peoples accounts and the operator of the site just disappears lol.

Gambling is the bad selection of newbies. Most newbies doesn't understand the reality behind gambling and just goes on with hope of earning, but when they understand better about gambling their wallet gets empty.

trying invest their BTC in alt coins, trying to make some arbitrage between exchanges,  trying buy hash power,  trying to buy a GPU to mining, buy a asic for mining (fist time i bought a asic take 2 months to come to my home (no refounds))

i think this is thw worst mistakes that a newbie does in this days

the only thing a newbie can do is buy on BTC-e and sell on localBitcoins  nothing more (this still safe)

That's a bad thing about this forum as many users post/message phishing links which can leak your passwords not only of your BCT account but of your other wallets too. Many newbies make a mistake and click on these links as they aren't marked as suspiscious on this forum which should be done.

I think that is very common mistake and majority of us have committed that, its same like visiting a porn site first time as a teenager and keep on  clicking all ads to see more of it in free

Do not use any exchange as wallet so never hoard coins on any of them. After you finish your trading, withdraw your coins somewhere safe (local wallet or at least one where you control private keys).

Agree, its most important rule every newbie should follow. Thousands of bitcoins people lost, because they didn't follow that rule.

I don't know about the others but when I was a newbie I invested my coins in a site that was doubling my coins  in 3 days, as usual I didn't receive anything at the end of the day.

not to mention that doing a job and buying bitcoin is not earning you anything more than you're regular job

the best thing is to have a job and earn bitcoin directly as a side job, bitcoin earning should be seen as a second job imho
