Out of all the forums that I have frequented (and I've been on some seriously high volume forums), it is bitcointalk.org that has the dubious distinction of warehousing the largest number of what can only be described as "retards."

What is it about Bitcoin that brings the mentally deficient out of the woodwork?

The unwillingness of management to clean out the sewers.

Freedom of speech without freedom of association (or disassociation) just means those who post frequently -- teenagers with time on their hands -- dominate the discussion.

So pessimistic. There's many people of above-average intelligence frequenting the site.

They just don't post as much.

If your number of posts are higher than the number of coins in your wallet, it's a reminder to trade more and talk less.

Actually the level of competence on this forum is above average, and after a while you learn who is contributing to Bitcoin and who is self preoccupied.

Anything where there is a chance to make "free" money ALWAYS brings the retards out of the woodwork, it is not just bit-coin.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2270247/ITV-This-Morning-Couple-living-17k-handouts-say-working-minimum-wage-unfair.html

Not only were they fucking stupid enough to have this Idea... but they were stupid enough to identify themselves on TV.. and in the press, so now almost the whole planet recognizes them as retards. at least with 'bitcoins' you can pretend you are anonymous

I mean  Allen Creamer "WTF would I work for a living when the government gives me 17k free....."

China also has a massive surplus of retards.. and it's not even connected to 'bit-coin'

Here is a document we use to prevent fights breaking out in the factory

*sorry it says "Left" ,"Right"
Also note we drew in the finger nails, because there is ALWAYS someone who looks at the hand from the front!!!

It wouldn't matter much is the forum software (SMF) wasn't that inefficient at allowing the crowd to prioritize constructive and coherent discourses.

no nested comments = does not scale

I also can't recall a single occurrence of a moderator deleting a post because it was off-topic/retarded/trolling.

This place is full of great and knowledgeable peoples. Off the top of my head I could name at least a dozen people who I would elevate with moderation privilege without 2nd thought. There need to be only a handful of loudmouth idiot to create a total mess, every stupid post generate 5+ complaining posts.

Have any of you seen users being temporally banned from posting ?
