It's not medieval at all. This is the law in Iran and several muslim countries. When a woman divorces, she can remarry but she needs to wait several months. I'm not sure about the legal length of the delay, possibly 6 months, but the men who wrote this law wanted to be sure they wouldn't get a bad surprise if a man marries a woman who had a past husband.

Christianity went through centuries of transformation (and a lot of burning at the stakes, killing etc).  the doctrine has been transformed to the "love your neighbor" type of religion.

Islam cannot be transformed.  The rules are "written by Allah".  They cannot be changed.
The Muslims in the West struggle to reconcile their religion with the civilized world.  And fail.

True Muslims of Daesh kind, don't consider Muslims in the West as true believers.  That is why they kill them.  Basically, they follow the logic: it is not Islam if you don't follow the rules as outlined by Muhammad.
