please wake up, the pump going on on ethereum right now it's not unprecedent, it happened all the time in crypto
this by no means is equal to surpassing bitcoin, still i may agree that ethereum is not the usual shitcoin

Probably not , even if it does reach the price of Bitcoin (Bitcoin will be much higher at that time) . So nothing is going to happen for now & I suppose we can talk once again when ethereum gets the same amount of merchants or services that use/accept bitcoin . (or at least , the half of it )

Same thing at this coin. Big sell/buy effect can make real deal. How many millions of dollars ETH on markets?

First of all, this is altcoin not bitcoin discussion. And secondly Bitcoin and Ethereum are two different creations. They do not focus on the same market applications or services. Bitcoin was primarily build to handle cash transactions (and may someday even be recognized as 'real money'), while Ethereum is a complex blockchain based contract mechanism. In my book Bitcoin is money, Ethereum is not. So market cap on Ethereum is not on their coin as much as on their blockchain solutions.

You can get so far on pure speculation alone then you need to start delivering. Bitcoin is slowly transitioning but it's going to take a long time. Ethereum hasn't even started yet. When it does then we'll see.

There were few other coins pretending to be game-changer, that have faded to oblivion or went nowhere: BlackCoin, NXT, WhiteCoin, NEM (did it even launched?), Ripple and so on. No technical novelty will make any coin defeating bitcoin. Just no

I don't think this is possible in any way. Ethereum is just a speculation coin currently riding a pump wave due to the Bitcoin debacle with the block size and after all the problems are ironed out its price will plummet.

I think that both have their place in the crypto world and dont have to compete, bitcoin has secured its place as a great currency and is also capable of much more, and Ethereum is going down the road of smart contracts and dapps, This isn't HIGHLANDER "Their can be more than one" .....lol

Too many people are dismissive of something "new" because they do not want change or have a bag of bitcoin and don't want to recognize better technology. I do not know if ethereum is better overall because gas prices will probably sky rocket all I know is, market will do whatever causes the most pain and that is likely UP currently.

At the moment the shape of the ETH price chart looks like a classic bubble. Normal adoption doesn't have that shape. So I expect people to start cashing some of their profits and the price falling.
Long term? It has some properties that BTC doesn't and sometimes the better innovated product beats the first mover.

TBH i hope it dosnt replace Bitcoin, as that would be an absolute disater for bitcoin (think myspace or bebo) but sometimes that happens in internetland ..... lol and i have a few bitcoin, but Bitcoin looks like the daddy of cryptocurrencies, ethereum looks like the younger cooler wee brother who those that are just buying in are more likely to get into......

Crypto changes so fast. In 6 months there could easily be something even better than ether. But IMHO Bitcoin will always be there even just for "collectors"

Another follower of Ethereum. Why dont you use your real account and say that ETH will pass bitcoins value or even replace?

ETH will overtake BTC mc this year.
I do not think so. It might take over bitcoin in a few years if the bitcoin does not develop properly and there is big conflict in the community.
