This doesn't really effect me. I don't pay for office with Bitcoin. I don't just have Bitcoin and I don't think you guys only have Bitcoin. But this is definitely nice to see this though.

I already was in shock because of this, I thought they really stopped, and the fact is also that I use it often to buy games these days for my xbox. So I'm happy it was just a mistake they have made.

It probably was an employee that is taking care of their website that tried to spread some fud to get the price down. #FailedAttempt.

Good news then, as one of the biggest software comapany I do believe that they help spread about the use of bitcoin. They have a great influence and will encourage other merchants to do same, that is to accept this bitcoin payment.

I didn't hear the news that they stopped accepting bitcoin! Man I was out of the loop for a bit there.
Also, who edits these articles?!
"BitPay did immediately responded to CNBC's requests for comment."
I'm glad BitPay did was on the ball.
Noticing this more and more on some of the large websites, it is just laziness in not checking articles before they are posted. I suppose because they can easily go back in and adjust them if the need be whereas in the olden days when we just had old fashioned print it was a lot harder to amend. Regarding Microsoft, I did hear that they stopped which was a bit crazy but glad to hear they are back on board.

this is a little bit confused, why did not a huge company like Microsoft study their decision well in the first time instead of making two opposite decisions in short time ! they should be more professional than this

so it was a lie on the web to spread fud, that none was using bitcoin to purchase things on microsoft store
another thing done for pumping ethereum and dumping bitcoin i guess
Yeah but it didn't worked out. Bitcoin price showed absolutely no reaction.Honey badger doesn't care right. And in case of Eth I'm not sure if there was a big increase due to that news. But this definitely was some nice free advertisement for Bitcoin. Some people might have thought:"What Microsoft supported Bitcoin?Didn't know that. Can't be that bad this crypto stuff." And now where MS has corrected their "mistake" these people who now have heard the first time of BTC might get cautious and do some research. So I see this as a win-win to both news.

Conspiracy : Microsoft released fake news so many bitcoiner will know that microsoft accept bitcoin, so they just have to apologize and they'll see more people use bitcoin as payment What do you think? Sure. Definitely possible that not many Bitcoiners weren't aware of that MS accepts Bitcoin as payment solution. Not everyone in the btc space is hanging out in the forums or reddit.

Microsoft dropping the ball like that seems highly unlikely... there are definitely a story behind the story. They are just testing the water to see if there are still people using this option, and if there are not a public outcry from the people, they would know that it's not worth the effort. I see no reason for them not to accept multiple currencies, because in the end they convert everything into fiat any way. Bitcoin just opens up a new form of revenue for them, that was previously not accessible.

Apparently that news is false, Microsoft still accepts Bitcoin in their stores So it looks like the guy who wrote that article is spreading false information and it got spread around the internet causing this ruckus Good thing they still accepts it in the end though Though i never use Microsoft store except for one software that i always wanted to use Microsoft dropping the ball like that seems highly unlikely... there are definitely a story behind the story. Why would test it like that though, it was too risky move Don't they have a statistics on how many people used Bitcoin as payment No need to pull the support and then later saying "It was a mistake" when they have a better way than that

This seems like a move to give a final pump to ethereum. No one is there to impede it from falling back to normal levels now.
Doubt it. I suspect it was a PR move - people like me didn't even know they accepted it in the first place, now I know. maybe it is because you don't check social media as much as the rest of us. i read here and reddit/r/bitcoin, cryptocurrency,.... and i though the same as Blind Legs Parker, even if it wasn't a plot to pump, the pumpers used (and still using) it to pump ETH

I was already worrying about the fact that they are not accepting it anymore but it was just a mistake luckily. I mostly buy apps in the windows store and I must say I really found it nice from Microsoft they did it.

Microsoft might have clarified, but the problem is many media outlets carried the original news. They may not take the pains to issue a correction.
