Terrorist attack or organised crime "solving" their problems? According to current news it's hard to say was it a car bomb or car exploded for uknown reason. If it's a terroist attack that will not reflect good for Angela Merkel and her policy towards imigrants.

It's not a terrorist attack. The goal was to kill the guy inside. A terrorist attack would have used the fuel tank not explosives inside the car. By using the fuel tank they would have don much more damage.

The car is in relative good condition (recognizable and in one piece) so this explosion was too small for a car bomb. Most likely the guy inside was the target, what points to criminals instead of terrorists.

Well, this supports the criminal theory. BTW petty criminals sometimes used to join terrorist organizations (especially if they get radicalized in their local community or in the jail), but organized crime groups (apart from some weapon trading) usually not interested in or sometimes even hostile to terrorists, as they want to "work" without attracting unwanted attention .

It's not a terrorist attack. The goal was to kill the guy inside. A terrorist attack would have used the fuel tank not explosives inside the car. By using the fuel tank they would have don much more damage.

You watch too many movies. Gas is flammable, not explosive. The best you could hope for from blowing up the fuel tank is a big fireball. It might burn some people really close but it is not going to make the explosion have any more impact, and certainly will not increase shrapnel, which is what usually kills people in explosions.

you are right.. i have never heard a car bomb attacked in germany..  maybe, the reason for this accicent was a broken engine or the driver's farts .. who knows?

Cars don't just accidentally explode. It is not like in the movies. Even if you wrap it around a tree it just burns. In some RARE circumstances the fuel tank heats up and boils until the vapors cause an explosion, but it is not high enough velocity to harm anyone unless they are very close. Also I believe newer vehicles have special release valves on the fuel tank to prevent exactly this.
