Hello,
I would like to create a url shortener who users get paid when a visitor visit the shrinked url.
The system is like adf.ly and coinurl but only different from these site.
Advertiser can make advertising in a network pool. The visits of the advertised url depending on the budget of the advertiser and the total pool amount.
Example:
Quote
Larry bought network shares for 0.0025 BTC and the total amount of btc in the network pool is 0.0243 BTC.
Finally, Larry's advertising shares 10% with other advertiser.

For shrinker is it not different.
The payment depending on the country, requirements (vpn; visited already) and total clicks on that day.
Example:
Quote
Sandy got 100 visits on their shrinked urls and 5 of them was visited by vpn.
So, 95 visits has 95 shares while the other visitors who used vpn has only a share of 0.125 (0.025 each).
On that day, the network pool had the total amount of 0.0243 BTC and 14728 shares.
Finally, Sandy got in the morning 0.00015694 BTC from their visitors on the shrinked urls.

How sounds this idea?

A site similar to crd.ht?This one pays you directly in your coinbase account. Unfortunately I've seen most people exploit this with Traffic exchange services and other more ways of cheating. I hardly see any successful link shrinker if it is not vulnerable to any cheat. Most people are only interested in that kind of service if they can exploit it.

I'm not sure if its good to count  the hits from VPN. but yeah count it but don't pay for it.
How did you get the numbers again? i thought its about CPM which means 1000 hits. Anyway, how does it adjust when bitcoin price fluctuates every day?

As referrer is most the site of the TE included so it can pays lower.
As second solution they need to skip or forward to the url that was shrinked, to get more shares.

User can pay for network shares in BTC like the system of adbtc.info, mellowads and adbit.co.

How sounds this idea? it is a brilliant idea though not original because we already have coinurl but it is an advantage to you because you have something to advance on.
Make your own better than coinurl.

He described in the opening post that it is similar to coinurl Wink

You mean like this https://coinurl.com/ ?

@Salmen: I have used coinurl and adfly extensively for various projects. In my view, this concept is dated and will not have a bright future. More and more people are leaving the site when they realize that they have to wait a couple of minutes seconds in order to reach a site.

Yeah, the idea would be good. You know it would be nice if bitcoin addresses could be shortened as well, that way it would be easy to memorize. And can be provided on demand instead of having to copy and paste from somewhere.

How many people might be interested in this do you think?

What about a cloud app with an API that looks up your private mnemonic and returns the BTC wallet address?  I wouldn't know how to monetize or keep such a thing running though if it ever became useful and reasonably successful.

I've developed URL shortening services.  They aren't that easy to develop properly and maintain.  With this service nobody should be able to enumerate the mnemonics and just slurp out the BTC wallet addresses unless the account holder gives out their mnemonic at their discretion (or something like that).  The security of the service and people's data is an issue.  Being located in a secure data center in Europe and somewhat outside the "Five Eyes" might be a good idea.

It would have to just assume various hacks, database leaks and perhaps DDoS attacks before that ever happens, and the service would have to be designed as such.

It could be an interesting experiment to start with, to see how it goes.  Not exactly a business venture to begin with.

This sounds pretty good, but you will likely have a whole lot of issues to deal with including fake traffic,  ddos,  and making your service better then coinurl, adfly, and all the other link shorteners.  Good luck! Smiley

Yes indeed Smiley  Although it seems like the URL shortener would be better placed with sites that have wallets and the API could be called from Bitcoin mobile apps too.  As well as being a general convenience in dealing with long BTC wallet addresses.

CoinURL looks like it's any other URL shortener and deals with short URLs, clicking and advertising.

Sound's good, because most sites do not provide an easy way to cashout your Bitcoin. So I'll support you with this project, I can't wait to test it later Grin

I do not know if people still click on shortened Urls, because most of these are connected to spyware or virus <trojan horse> sites. I prefer to click on Urls where I can see the whole origin or the link. I support the idea that another site offering the same service, would be welcomed even though I do not personally use the service, but it is still good for the community, when we have several sites supporting Bitcoin payments. Good luck with the project and keep us updated on the progress. ^smile^

Sorry, I meant seconds not minutes.

One more advice: you could create a url shortner which shows a header with a banner etc where in the body to aiming site is showing.

He described in the opening post that it is similar to coinurl Wink

This idea is in deed good but your payout rates will definitely determine peoples interest but naturally the idea is great.
