this is good idea to inform us about the top bitcoin donation addresses, hope some people interested in donating their bitcoin too, but let me ask, am I the only one who thinks it?
because the addresses will probably be useful if I see some bitcoins transfered by one of those addresses to my address LOL

I think these are old bitcoin address and i think bitcoin before is very cheap thats why they are receiving huge amount of bitcoin.. do you think guys some can give a donation like this.. for me no one can give huge amount of bitcoin because of high value of every each bitcoin..
before you can receive many donation now we are many you can get any donation above 2 btc or 1 btc..
They are lucky that they are living early in bitcoin unlike others and me...

This will be a difficult thing to manage properly, because some donation addresses were still in operation when Bitcoin had very little value. If you want to do it properly, you would have to take the value at the time of the donation and add it all together to see what the real donations were in it's fiat value at the time. If someone donated for example 10 000 bitcoin back in the day when 1 Bitcoin was valued at $5, you cannot compare that to the value of those same bitcoins today. ^hmmmm^

Nice info but these addresses are from the time when the price value of bitcoin was much lower and at that time they have received that amount, so these are ranked as big receivers.

Yes, if someone have few bitcoins and they want to find a best place to donate them then they will have to visit here and to choose that which is best place according to him/her where to donate.

Sad to see 5883 BTC wasted on the address ranked third. Other than that I see some well applied funds there Smiley

I see that the first position is Gavin and is connected with word "faucet" - I suspect that because of first faucet that he made .. Does anyone have somewhere address to the first faucet? Few months ago and checked this and still was working (the one with 5 BTC) just was empty - unfortunately i lost this link .. Can someone share it or send me via PM.
Thanks.

EDIT:  I remembered that bitprices limits to 1000 tx by default.  That hopefully explains the discrepancies with OPs numbers.   Re-running now with limit set to 100,000.

EDIT2:  I updated the results below after re-running.

Ok, below is a ranking of the top 15 from OP by USD value of the received donations at the time of donation.

The ranking was generated with the use of the bitprices tool to do the heavy lifting, plus a wrapper script I just wrote.

Notes:

1) The source for price data is bitcoinaverage.com.  For transactions that precede the oldest exchange date of 2010-07-17, the exchange value of 2010-07-17 is used ( $.05 )

2) I notice some minor discrepancies for the total BTC received between the bitprices tool and the table linked to in the OP.  It might be interesting to sort out where the diffs are coming from, as it indicates either a bug in bitprices or a problem in OP's methodology.

3) Detailed reports for address(es) can be generated easily at mybitprices.info

For the record, here's the wrapper script that generated the above report.  It requires bitprices and btcd.  (Could be run without btcd using toshi or insight but would take a *really* long time.)

Thought this list was going to be of the generous addresses that take pity on the late adapters and help get them out of the gutter.
Always get a bit funny with donations, wonder if bitcoin donations are make effective to getting to the source over traditional donating that goes mostly to administration work.

some of these addresses has been receiving donation back from 2013, maybe there should be some sort of USD equivalent for amount they received.

but nonetheless that is impressive amount of bitcoin donated throughout the years. the biggest donation i knew of was the torrent site called eztv which had around 10BTC donated Smiley

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

^hmmmm^
Yes you are true, it must not have to depend on the amount of number of bitcoin but he have to calculate the value of each bitcoin received at a specific time keeping in mind the value of it at that time.

As a beginner in bitcoin exchange I don’t know what Bitcoin Donation Addresses is. I hope using this address we can share bitcoin from one to another trader right???

these are simply some bitcoin addresses that you cad donate to some organizations by sending them whatever you want from btc. there no trading related to these addresses at all
These are the bitcoin addresses from the wallet of some organizations, they have made it available to the public where they ask for donations, and people donate them to pay to these addresses.

It's always good to donate some coins to a noble cause like the charities posted here. If you just stop and think about how many coins go into the pockets of Casino and Dice operators but nowadays everyone is a capitalist before everything else.
