It's true they may save a bit but probably not as much as you might think. How many merchants do you know that accept Bitcoin directly, I don't think I've ever come across one, they all use some third party processor like Bitpay and I doubt Bitpay offers its service for free.

Even 1% discount could be worthwile for regular purchases or one-time high value ones (ie gold bar). Afaik BitPay didn't charge any fees initially, but introduced some small fees quite recently, still much lower than cc/PayPal.

How do you get your BTC?
Unless you're a factory mine, you *buy* it before you can use it. Which means fees/premiums/your time. Way in excess of that 1% Sad

There are plenty of other ways to get BTC. You could sell stuff/provide services and take bitcoins, altcoin trading, investing, gambling etc. You could also find someone who is willing to sell at market price outside of exchanges.

Usual exchange fee for buying is around 0.2%, so much less than 1%. Fiat transfer fees are the issue, but are less significant if you trade larger amounts.

Usual exchange fee for buying is around 0.2%, so much less than 1%. Fiat transfer fees are the issue, but are less significant if you trade larger amounts.

So you're saying that to get Mom interested in the 1% discount she could get in the 1% of the stores by using BTC, I should tell her to
1. sell something for BTC
2. trade altcoins (hard to understand where/how Mom got her altcoins, so I won't ask)
3. investing (just get some BTC by investing, Ma, I have no idea what that means but it's super easy)
4. gambling (Mom, just get BTC is by gambling, what can possibly go wrong?)
5. find someone selling off-exchange @ market (i.e. find a criminal or idiot)

Overlooking the fact that she'd need to have BTC for everything other than (1), and that the intrepid financiers engaging in (2) through (5) end up in the gutter, crying hot salty tears, and also assuming Mom is not batshit crazy... do you honestly think she'd do any of the above for 1% savings (not from the stores she normally shops, but some obscure merchant she never heard of, the one that accepts BTC)?

So you're saying that to get Mom interested in ...

Nope. I just stated few quick examples of how you can get bitcoins without buying them on exchange site (personally I bought total of ~0.02 and hold/spent/lost bit more than that) . If your mom can't find a way to earn it and buying is not worth the discount she could get - tell her to stick to fiat. Problem solved.

~0.02 BTC Shocked? Roughly $8 US at current rate, $24 at bubble-burst? How, pray tell, did you plow through such a princely sum?

Mom already uses fiat grownup money, so no problems to solve. That's the point -- Bitcoin, while creating shitloads of problems, solves none.

This items are indeed legal. As legal as buying almost anything different. But i am fully aware there are plenty of things that are illegal which you can pay with bitcoin.
But that also applies for paypal.

Pre-bubble so likely less than that. Bought that only to test how it works and managed to earn the rest. Are you saying I should've spent more?

It does solve some problems and can be pretty useful, but that's not a topic of this thread. If you/your mom don't see any  benefits, simply stay out. I don't have any interest in forcing/convincing anyone to use (or "invest" in) Bitcoin. That's one of my favourite bitcoin's features, it's completely optional to use.

I agree with people here. Some online shop accepted bitcoin and give discount to people who use bitcoin for payment, i'm forget what website is that. But i remember they give good discount.

i don't sure, but it is usually legal for the underage users, it convinces them to buy stuff if they accept bitcoin.
btw i am one of them to promote bitcoin locally, since people are not aware with the bitcoin. i am planning to setup a student union which involves bitcoin well.

out of ability to use the signature, i want a new ban strike policy that will fade the strike after 90~120 days of the ban and not to be traced back, like google | email me for anything urgent, message will possibly not be instantly responded
i am not really active for some reason

I don't know of any standard product that requires Bitcoin and can't be purchased other than illegal contraband on the dark web. The dark web and Bitcoin go together like peanut butter and jelly.

All correct. What does it prove again?

Care to answer the part regarding yourself? Why are you here. Nothing better to do?

Myself? Well, made some money selling BTC to clueless rubes finance revolutionaries like yourself, so I guess that makes me a criminal. If not in the legal, then certainly in the moral sense.

As far as having nothing better to do? Meh. I'm atoning for my past sins, Friend. By educating your potential victims.
And having a chuckle or two in the process, won't lie.

only place that comes to my mind is gyft.com, you get 3% cashback in points whenever you buy a gift card from them. but i guess you would get that if you pay with paypal too, so technically its not exclusive to bitcoin Tongue.

>Lol, I am what now?

Judging by the mentioned sums, you sig & inept attempts at lying, "a brokeass degenerate gambler" would be a safe bet Smiley

Nah, finance revolutionary sounded better.

Sure. But dollars to donuts "a brokeass degenerate gambler" is less at odds with reality Smiley
