The thing is, Dimension, those older phones are kind of on par with something like an old smartphone in the U.S.  Everyone has them, and many are just sitting around, kind of used as play toys or when someone has enough money, they will activate it just for a few minutes, when they REALLY have to make a call, and then it lies dormant until the next time.

The biggest cost is getting the phones down there.  Shipping them is expensive, and 90% of the time, your package never arrives gets stolen.  So, I usually take them myself when I go down there, or I give them to someone I know when he/she goes down there.  That is at most 3 times per year. 

I don't think they have any value where I go (Mostly Nicaragua, but occasionally Costa Rica and Panama.)  I could ask my Latino friends and see what they say.

You might have better luck giving them to a local phone store.  I know that Verizon has a box where you donate your old phone for some cause.  But, I will ask my friends.  About how many do you have?

I've searched on eBay manually.  Everybody is trying to make a profit (understandably).  The prices are geared towards to people who live in developed countries.  They are too high for my Central American friends.  It's just the way it is down there.

Just to adjust your expectations, and not to kill the sale, but I imagine you could probably do better on ebay.  But, if you're okay with getting less, knowing you'll get something for it, and you'll help some Central American dude can catch up to 2011 U.S standards, then we may have a deal.  Nevertheless, I will check with my friends, because they know their market better.

I have some old mobile phones. they are useless for me. but may you can do something with theses. but let me tell you these are not smartphones. some of them camara phones and some of them simple mobile phones.. no problem if you pay me one two dollars for each. and one more thing I am not from USA.. but it is not a big issue. we can easily ship these to everywhere.

I'm not sure if they have any value.  I can ask.  If they have no value to you, and you want to send them to me, I will definitely bring them down when I go in July.  I could pay you for postage if that helps.   

Not sure what else you want.  I mean I know you want one or two dollars for them.  Just think about that for a second from their perspecitve:  one or two dollars down there is like 10 or 20 dollars in the U.S.  If I sold them for what I bought them for, they would still be too expensive.  It's a priority thing: they have to be thinking about how to pay the rent, much less how to pay for a cell phone.

Anyhow, if you want to pm/post what you have, and how many, and the cost of the postage to a U.S. address, we could see if we can make something work.

I will add your phone to the list of types which I'll ask my friends in Nicaragua.  I wouldn't expect too much, but I as a U.S. citizen who only visits Central America, I don't know for sure. 

BTW, thanks to all who have posted.  I have sent out an email to 3 friends in Nicaragua and 1 in Mexico.  Hopefully they will get back to me soon, but Latin America time is different than U.S. time

So my Latino friends are tough to get in touch with.  They view the concept of time differently than from where I am in the U.S.

I am supposed to have a skype with one of my friends in Nicaragua Thursday (tomorrow for me).  I hopefully will have answers for all of those who have inquired.

Also, I won't be going there until June or July, so if you have any older phones and you don't need an answer asap, please keep posting!  I plan on bringing as many phones with me as I can.
