Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

That's true, plain and simple. Buy bitcoins with the amount on your hand, then keep it in your wallet and relax. It just a wait and pray game. If the future favors you then you will profit and if not then you need to accept because that is the risk associated with it.

20k is indeed a pretty large amount and I think you could make a lot of profit with it, but its of course also a very big risks to put the whole 20k in it.
I would honestly start with 10k or a bit more than it.

That is a high amount of money and it would be nice if you can make an investment of course and that is nice because the chance is high that you can earn profit with it.
But you have also to save some money for backup and that is important.

I don't think eth will continue to pump, after the release of DAO, we can determine but for the moment I would not touch anything unstable. I prefer investing in bitcoins as it was already proven to be stable and tested through times.

20k is a pretty  large amount if you ask me and I think you can make a lot of money with if if you invest in the right things.

10k worth of BTC and 10k worth of ETH

easy

maybe put more in bitcoin, ethereum is not that safe and surely safer with bitalik holding still so much coin

do 75 and 25 or any other combination were more than 50% is on bitcoin

i agree. investing in any altcoin is more dangerous than investing in bitcoin especially an altcoin like ethereum that is being pump and dumped so massively.

so even if you go 50% in eth you should stay very cautious to sell as fast as possible with the first sign of dump because you can wake up one morning and see eth is half the price you bought.

$20k is quite a huge amount to start with.  if there is a chance that you can buy btc at it's lowest now take the chance and keep buying even daily as long as you keep track record on the price of the btc on a certain day you bought it so you will know how many btc you can sell that has gains on it.

i agree. this is especially good these days that the bitcoin price has started to take a small dip. it makes for a good chance to buy if you haven't already done that. although you should always keep an eye on the price until the price has risen at least $100 above your buy price (like me that bought at $200) after that you can sit back and enjoy the rise.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Buying BTC and Eth would definitely benefit in future..

Your $20k can become $28-30K in next 60 days..

So Choose wisely, Live well

20k is really a big amount to invest in bitcoin, but it is too big money . and very risky to invest whole money at one time. the web world is full of scam and fraud peoples. and I think 20k is very big money to invest somewhere you don't know anything..
batter to invest in real life. like in real stat and import/export.
if you still want to invest online batter to invest less money first.

People are betting on the halving for them, but the reason why it supports it is due to the technical things behind bitcoin itself.

So basically what they are implying on here, is that since the rewards are smaller more people are in a frenzy to hoard for bitcoin.

Absolutely, the more bitcoins is hard to mine the more bitcoins will be expensive, the price will tell after the halving but we the supporters here are very optimistic about the substantial increase.

This is true, but I honestly do believe in this, everything will go well I really have faith in it, I think there is a good chance that this will happen after the halving...(price increasing).

You do notice though the price is being held down by ETH though right.

The pre-halving prices I feel should be a bit higher, but old investors are getting the ETH train putting their money elsewhere.

$20k is quite high amount to get started.
Divide the amount in many portions and invest it in different sectors.

Like Gambling, trading, mining, hyip, revenue share, ptc etc.

Just don't put all the amount in one bucket.

Make a excel sheet to track all your investments / ROI.

Gambling : Is totally luck/skill type. So you need to play quite smartly.

Trading   : Need more knowledge. So before start trading study about this. You can make good amount or may lose good amount. But knowledge
will help you make good profit.

Mining     : Its not that much profitable (I'm talking about cloud mining) but at least you will get a ROI on it.

Hyip        : The most risky sector. You have to choose the right ones among all the stupid ones. But its profitable if you get in right time.
I have a good portfolio in hyip, LOSS + PROFIT = 202% NET ROI. But the loses are most, but at the end I'm still in profit.

RevShare : This is also something like Hyip. You have to choose the right ones among the stupid ones. If you get the right ones than return on
                investment is quite good.

PTC        : Hopefully you know about this very well.

Advises
1. For Hyips and revshares, try to use payza or paypal for your transactions. If you get scammed you will get a chance to recover your money.
2. Early get in and early get out from hyips and revshare.
3. Be calm during gambling, if you have addiction problem then double your calmness.
4. Earn as much knowledge as you can before trading.

Good Luck

Hey folks,

I've finally got around $20k to invest in long-term. No, unfortunately I cannot put this on a bank to get like 10-15% per year, I'd need something way more good.
What would you recommend? Mining? Other crypto?

Investors, please get me some cool ideas.

Thanks in advance,
Marcell

Bitcoin is an investment in itself, the current price looks very encouraging. I would recommend to consider buying BTC for long term.

I've been wanting to do a legit grow op in Colorado myself. Accepting investments, and can draw up a contract for a partnership. I have a crew ready to go, and need about 30k to get started. I'd accept investments up to 20k, with the plan on doubling any money invested, most likely in the first year, might take 2, but the ROI I want for investors is about 100% per year. I'm still working out the logistics of it, but this would all be legit and legal, with contracts. I could probably come up with half (15k) if I had an investor for the other 15k. Let me know if you are interested.
