the coins won't disappear if that's what you're wondering. it'll either get confirmed or be returned to your wallet (if it takes too long and no one rebroadcast it.).
usually long confirmation time are caused by low fee. if you want us to tell you what's the problem with your tx you should post the tx ID.

it should be returned to your wallet after the mempool drop your tx in 24-48 hours. but if you're using core you'll need to get rid of the tx first by running core with -zapwallettxes command. this is because core automatically rebroadcast your unconfirmed transactions.
though your tx should have a huge priority (58299 conf old input. not sure about the exact priority.) so it'll probably get confirmed before the mempool drop the tx.

and yeah it took long because the fee you used is too low. it should be 10-30 satoshi per byte but you only paid 1 satoshi per byte.

taking usual long time means sender didn't put enough transaction fees in order of amount.
what happened to this coin-
this coin is not safe to pay anywhere before at least one conformation.
can i get them back-
if sender put 0.0btc for transaction fees it will reverse in some time to sender wallet automatically.so you can't get them back in any case technically. but you can request your sender to send again.
you can't buy anything with unconfirmed transaction btc.

Bitcoin transaction does not confirm usually when sent without any fees as the miners who power the network dont include the transaction in a block if there is no fee, but some of them do. If you sent without any fee, the transaction will get accepted anywhere from 20 blocks to not getting accepted at all, it can take upto a day or never get accepted and usually after 2 days, the bitcoin transaction if not accepted in a block will fall from blokchain and the balance will be returned to your wallet. The ideal fees will be 0.00055 BTC/Kb for a faster confirmation time which i usually use with my electrum wallet. You can see the fees and confirmation time comparison in this graph https://bitcoinfees.21.co
