Well, I saw this guy post

Very badly, GF just thinks the government is going to come after us and put us in jail for providing ID to a banking institution.

Wow, you got one of the rare smart ones.

Que?  Undecided

I assume he is from the USA and she is thinking what will happen in about 5 years.

You think they will be put in jail for sending ID to MTGox? Really? Are they going to turn one of their states into a prison or something?

Considering that for petty crimes an American servers a huge sentence, I wouldn't say it wasn't possible.

Take a look at how this innocent bystander shooting a video with his phone's camera gets arrested and subsequently, one of the cops shoots this person's dog multiple times.

We could turn New York and Los Angeles into giant prisons...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_New_York

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escape_from_L.A.

BTW, this is why the US citizen does not worry about the government attempting to put us all in prison.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_of_guns_per_capita_by_country

At 94.3 guns per 100 people, it would not be an easy thing to do.  Of course, the number of gun owners per 100 people is a bit lower but that just means it is harder to find the guy with the gun in the crowd with out pissing off the rest of the folks.

Resist and revolt! I don't like America but I know many people there are actually a normal people. Like me. As a person who lived under both soviet and capitalist regime I know what to expect from corrupt government.

I live in the US. I nearly was arrested when the police got a search warrant to search my house because of my high electricity usage (I mine litecoins). They thought I was growing pot!

Also, the US is like a giant prison/nanny state. Nearly 27mil people are in jail, and 8mil are on welfare/food stamps.

I live in the US.

There are things the government do that I don't agree with but this is a free country.

Sure, the police sometimes do bad things and some of our laws are over-burdensome but the very free speech we enjoy is what lets people paint a bad picture of our government. Take it with a grain of salt.

That happened to a friend of mine who was breeding reptiles. Takes a lot of heat lamps for some species. They not only had high power usage but they had infra-red photographs. I suppose it didn't help that he had long shaggy hair and was covered in tattoos. And he frequently shipped and received boxes. He shipped out reptiles (legally via fedex) and received supplies and reptiles.

They got the warrant, searched his house, and left. No arrest.

You think so?  Try filming the police in a public location.   Undecided

I would bet their are more people in the prison system/parole than the population of th least populated state.

I don't have a source but its a guess...

Any one want to google the info?

If you google that, there will be a permanent record of you googling that, and at some future point of time you will be imprisoned for Unauthorized Surveillance On National Security Institutions
