Here is the situation,
I have a back up file from 2014-04-03 from a BB device running the Bitcoin Wallet.
I do not remember the password to decrypt it following the UBUNTU instructions provided by Andreas.
Questions,
1- Was a password required? I am usually good with passwords and in this case im thinking I did not use one, or was it required?
2- When following the instructions to decrypt using the guide by andreas, after entering a blank password, it sends me back to the command prompt but when looking into the decrypted file it is empty. I guess this means there is a password set?
3- I read the guide and all, and if I get as far as sending out the funds (there are none) I actually need to get the actual private key out of the backup. The reason for this is because the private key associated with the public key is required to redeem some maid safe coins I had purchased in the pre-sale. Yes, I know it should have done properly from a desktop etc..etc... but it was last minute and I did it from my BB device which is now busted. What do you suggest to recover the actual private key?
Looking forward to your help.
Yes, you need a password, you actually need both. The PIN to unlock the wallet on start and the password to spend funds.
Maybe this[1] can help?
