I am using the MtGox Android client because it is the only client I know of that can read private keys from the awesome paper wallets from https://www.bitaddress.org/ A while ago everything worked fine but lately I wanted to show someone how easy it was to send some coins to the paper wallet and it just came up with this error message: Any ideas?

It means the Android client isn't being updated by Mt Gox anymore.

There are lots of other Android wallets. Try Andreas' wallet and see how you like it.

MtGox support told me that it is broken until they release a newer version. I wanted to ask when that would be but the ticket was already closed.

Why is this in alternative clients anyway?

So your money is stuck in the Mt Gox wallet and you can't get it out?
Andreas' client lets you import/export private keys to a file. If you need to, you can make such a file based on the keys generated by BitAddress.org but it's a tricky operation.

I thought it was the right place. Feel free to move it wherever you like. So your money is stuck in the Mt Gox wallet and you can't get it out? [...]
No. Only 90% sure you are not kidding. I just want a comfortable way to fund, check and swipe paper wallets.

Alternative clients is for alternative Bitcoin clients, the MtGox app is simply a MtGox client

I have bothered them some more and they do plan to release a new version but don't know yet when it will be ready. I thought it was the right place. Feel free to move it wherever you like.

Another method is to use EasyWallet.org from a mobile. I think it knows if you are accessing from a mobile and get different results when from a desktop browser versus a mobile browser. The URL for one-step scan (which they call "instapay") is: - https://easywallet.org/instapay/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX <--- where that XXXXX would be your EasyWallet identifier. e.g., https://easywallet.org/instapay/DYxmTzfY1GSnCdbpVZZ5Qa <--- Don't redeem to this EasyWallet as it now has been exposed to the public

This is very nice though you have to trust instawallet.

I have redeemed an old paper wallet via MtGox android app on February 4 without any problems. Can you log on to your account and confirm your api key has proper security settings to allow withdrawal?

They're there, in their room. Your mining rig is on fire, yet you're very calm.
