Has anyone else noticed an uptick in "canned posts", low-value/spammy posts that appear to be auto-generated using recurring phrases ("we all hope", "that is good", "that is the problem")?

Examples: see this Google search (about 85 results).

Quote
Many people wants to make some profit later in the future. But you never know what will happen with the value and that is the problem.
We all hope that the value will rise in the future and that we can all sell it with profit later and that will be very good.

This seems to be a fairly recent phenomenon, at least I've only recently noticed it. In many cases the posts are completely off-topic, and I've been reporting them. When they're on-topic (kind of...) I'm less certain what to do - can these safely be reported? They add feck all to the conversations, and - at least to me - seem to be nothing more than sig spam.

very interesting... I haven't noticed this but you're right.

Many people wants to make some profit later in the future. But you never know what will happen with the value and that is the problem.
We all hope that the value will rise in the future and that we can all sell it with profit later and that will be very good.

That is very hard to predict. You can never know what is going to happen with Bitcoin in the future and that is the problem.
Of course we all hope that the price will rise for a long time so we can get some more profit later in the future and that will be good.

Bitcoin will have a good future. I know that as much as 100 percent sure. But it is the risk that you should take to invest now.
But I think we all hope later for a good future for Bitcoin. But you never know what can happen later in the future and that is the problem.

You never know what will happen with Bitcoin after the halving and of course we all hope that it will be more worth.
But that is hard to say because it is a currency so you dont know what will happen. We shall wait and see....

Bitcoin will have a good future later and that is because the world is becoming more digital and that is good.
But you never know what will happen with the future. We all hope that the future will rise and that will be good.

The best that I like is that you can make some huge profit. That will be so nice, but you must be smart to doing that.
We all hope that the value will rise of course in the future, but you dont know when it will happen, and that is the problem.

That will not happen. Many people need the banks and that is the most important for the most people, They have also cash money.
But it will reduce banks of course in the future and that is quite okay. But we all hope that Bitcoin  will be more used.

We all hope that it will be the bottom. But you can never know what will happen. We all hope that it will rise for a long time.
And that will be pretty good for those people who already has made an investment. And I hope also that more people are going to use Bitcoin.

We all hope for that is going to happen. But you never know what can happen with the value of Bitcoin and that is the problem.
I hope that more people will have some profit and that they sell it for a high price. You can also see now that the price is rising slowly.

guess what? they all have bitmixer signature and post two-liners (and very hopeful).
so far I haven't found any completely off-topic "hope" post other than the one by namelesscoin though.

It's possible the off-topic ones are gone now - I reported a couple yesterday, and the remaining ones did seem to be at least tangentially on-topic. It's these latter ones I guess I'm curious about - can they be reported, or does being on-topic make them OK, even if they're low-value and spammy? I feel like I'm making subjective judgements, though - I wouldn't trust me as arbiter of all things useful, so I need a second opinion before I go mad with the "report" button!

I notice these all the time, and I'm sure I've used some canned phrases myself.  I've sometimes attributed this to different language proficiencies--posters who do this tend to seem like non-native English speakers.  Or yeah, I guess they could be bots.

low value and/or spammy posts are not ok even if they're on-topic so report them if you think they're low-quality/spammy. though I can't guarantee that the mods will agree with you. I've reported multiple accounts for spamming low quality one-liners once and they kept on doing it (but it seems they've improved over time.).

Oh definitely - I'm sure I have too. It's the combination of the three phrases that raises my suspicions - I've no problem with people saying "that is good" as a general rule!

Thank you both for your feedback - I don't like reporting posts for the sake of it, thanks for the second opinions before I summon the mods!

Think that people are farming like crazy and it does not matter if they lose their signature due to the amount of time in between a signature housecleaning and the time they sign up. Say it takes a month in between and its usually longer.

10 jr. member accounts on yobit = 20x.00007x10x7x4= 0.392 btc

But if you are copy and pasting with slight variations they could be doing this with way more accounts.
Once they are kicked from yobit on to the next signature and so on.

Just watching the yobit thread its a continual cycle of dumb questions, dumb questions being answered, person giving people crap for responding to create post count and repeat. If you glance through the signature threads you also see a lot of posters not even in the campaigns going from signature to signature responding to these dumb questions.

Requirements should be raised but I think there is little to deter some of these members from poor countries,as this is pretty decent money for them.

My math was 20 posts per day multiplied by payout multiplied by accounts used multiplied by days in week and weeks.
Think Yobit cleaned house and the very same day people where posting about good kicking spammers when they where spammers themselves.

Something fresh needs to be worked out.

How do you report them besides signature campaign manager, are you clicking report thread? If so what do you type?

there's a report to moderator button on the right corner (above signature) of every post. click on that to report a post. fill the comment box with the reason for your report if needed.

I realize that part, was hoping you guys would have some key words that you use that mods understand quicker for processing.
Imagine if you go on and on and just say spammer they will tend not to look into it. May be wrong but in my head they are going through reports constantly and imagine some of the reports are vengeful or trollish in nature and its hard to read what the deal is.
The percentage of correct reports does little to help me figure out if I am doing anything right.

Have reported 4 signature spammers to signature moderators and never get a reply back,so that seems to be fruitless.
Just lately I have started clicking to report spammers to mods of the forum but was not sure if they do anything about that or have the powers.
I am pretty naive when it comes to the day to day operations mods do here. Looking at the seclog it looks extensive.

You can add a link to this thread in your report, that should help.

I've noticed this brainless posting style before, never thought it's so widespread though.

This has been happening for quite some time (maybe a year, or a bit more, I'd say), and admins/mods do a great job and are constantly on top of it. Some accounts went as far as copying from non-bot members and posting in the exact same thread... When you see something odd, just report, I do so quite often.

Very likely the same user and a few of those have been banned before for just rehashing the same hollow stuff just reworded slightly differently.  An admin will need to look into it.

User #1, user #2 - 2 posters I spotted today, both posted today, prior to that they both last posted on March 9, and before that they both posted on February 17. Today's posts, and the posts from March 9, are variations on the "we all hope" theme; however, the posts from February seem "real".

Yeah, saw/handled your reports. If I had to guess they look like they're related to the spammers in the op. Maybe farming more accounts seeing as their others are getting banned.

One place I have been noticing it horribly is in beginner forum - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=39.0 .  Look at all the quick/way's to earn btc threads.  I cannot possibly count all the threads that use something like the folowing:

Trading
Faucets
Sig Campaign
Selling Goods
Learn a skill

There are many variations of it.  But it is crazy how many times something like above is mentioned.  Just go through these beginner earning threads and you will see it repeated... over and over.

Looks like you spoke to soon, he is now yobitz member. Not like we did not see this coming. Really only two campaigns spammers run to at first.
Suspect this issue will face more scrutiny this month due to the waves of garbage.
