Don't try to turn it on. Take it apart right away. An Ipod have two little screws on both sides of the bottom connector.
Place it in an oven on 50 degrees centigrade for 4 or 5 hours without the battery. If there is any scaling or mineral residues on the circuit board, brush it off with a tooth brush.
Put it back together anf charge it.
I've saved multiple types of wet electronics and phones dropped in toilets that way. Even a pallet of thin clients that were flooded with sewage water in a basement. (I had to rinse them first with soap and water because of their stench).

Sadly , He probobly already tried to connect it to a charger, Potentially destroying any chance of saving the device. I once dropped a RUNNING GameBoy Advance in the toilet while taking a piss and playing pokémon. Took it out, Took out the batterys, Waited two days, leaving on a sunny windowsil, And it works

You guys need to learn how to wash your clothes. You need to turn your pants inside out before you put them in the washing machine. This keeps the colour intact and will keep the zipper from destroying other clothes in the machine. While doing this you will also notice any gadget still stuck in the pockets.

Oh. I turned it on, it flashed then died. I can't live without my iPod touch.. it was insanely useful for me. I'll just be careful next time. I'll grab an iPod Gen 5 today. ^^

RIP, iPod. She was just over a year old!
I just repaired my old iPhone 4 (not s) this morning. New Screen, new mute/headphone jack. Was thinking of selling it for a discount, let me know if you are interested.

Here in Australia you can take them to Apple and they'll replace it with a reconditioned one for a moderate fee. My son in law has dropped his in the toilet, run over it with the car, and smashed it while throwing a tantrum. Each time Apple have been happy to replace it for a fee even though every incident has been his fault.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.
