In a nutshell we reuse old computers that would normally end up on a landfill sites and send them out to schools in Africa. If you are able to support us please use the link below. We'll be embracing bitcoin fully and will be setting up a full node in the near future. http://turingtrust.co.uk/donate-by-bitcoin/Many thanks -The Turing Trust

We are aiming to put 4000 computers in schools in Malawi alone in the next 3 years and so any funding brought in by bitcoin donations is much appreciated. We'll often get laptops with missing chargers or desktops with missing components so Purse.io might come in handy for us to get these parts. Thank you very much for your donation

First time heard about Turing Trust, and looks like media never make a news about it. I'll help when i got my payment next month.
BTW, do you sell your bitcoin before use it to help others?
We are a relatively small charity but as i posted above we aim to put 4000 computers in schools in Malawi over the next 3 years and so we're looking to grow considerably. I am not at liberty to say how we use the bitcoin received as its a collective decision. For me personally though i would look to pay people with it and explore future use cases in the developed and developing world. Bitcoin the protocol is an amazing invention that has opened the door to some amazing things! Thanks for your interest

Well if you searched it on google you will find a few info on this charity and it convinced me to donate @Turing Do you have a photo proof or some sort of your donation ? I might be blind here but I can't find any of it on your site Putting the photo on your post might help convinced people to donate to your cause, just like any other charity websites

Yes we are based in Edinburgh, UK. The reason we don't list our address is that people were dumping computers in bulk outside our front door (some in the rain). We are currently open 3 days a week but hope to be open full-time asap. When that happens we will update our website and google with our address

Thanks for bringing this up. Our machines get taken to dedicated e-waste facilities once they reach the end of their life. Many machines that get donated here in the UK would actually end up being scrapped and dumped in landfill sites so we're reducing the problem not adding to it. http://turingtrust.co.uk/our-environmental-policies/

Well it is for a good cause, and I would rather see children in Africa benefit from this, than seeing it go to waste in a landfill. I bet the recycle companies are not very happy with this initiative, because they
reclaim quite a lot of precious metals, including gold from these old computers. I know there has been some complaints from some of the African nations, saying that Africa is becoming the landfill for 1st
world countries old mobile phones... I am saying, Go for it... you getting it for free! Keep up the good work... I will donate some.

So you're telling me that the people likely to illegally dispose of hazardous waste in UK are ...donating it to you as an alternative? Because there's not enough of that stuff there already?

Good to see another non-profit organization accepting Bitcoin - especially one in the technology field! It would be good if you could download a soft Bitcoin wallet into the computer before you send them out to Africa. Anyway, would donate some Bitcoin when I am not in a tight budget. .

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.
