Good to see another non-profit organization accepting Bitcoin - especially one in the technology field! It would be good if you could download a soft Bitcoin wallet into the computer before you send them out to Africa. Anyway, would donate some Bitcoin when I am not in a tight budget. . Thanks King Jack I doubt we'll be adding wallets to our computers but one thing we have spoken about is adding a section on Bitcoin and digital currencies to our E-library

Will the Turing Trust be supporting the Bitcoin ecosystem in any other ways? Yes, in the near future we will be hosting a full node to support the network. This is what we need, some organization that will support Bitcoin.

In a nutshell we reuse old computers that would normally end up on a landfill sites and send them out to schools in Africa. If you are able to support us please use the link below. We'll be embracing bitcoin fully and will be setting up a full node in the near future. http://turingtrust.co.uk/donate-by-bitcoin/Many thanks -The Turing Trust yes its good news, and i'm sure this is would effective to raise some donation from people,at least people who use and adopt bitcoin can know and start donate with bitcoin,i'm also ever donate with bitcoin to some foundation, its easier.

It is really a good news for those who are their donators and who want to donate them, as it is much easy to pay for a donation through bitcoin. but donating through banks and cheque it take some time and effort to go to there, but with bitcoin you can donate from home with a few clicks.

What are you using the donations for if people are bringing old computers for free to your door step? Do you pay a lot of money for shipping costs to African countries or the goods will be transported free of charge as you are a charity organization? What do you think about Raspberry Pi Zero the $5 computer? You could get a whole bunch of them for less than the shipping fees on these old PC's you are sending out right?

Not to mention the fact that it's just reasonably cheaper to donate with Bitcoin than any other money sending medium. Apparently, you get charged $5 to pay through Western Union which I never ever knew.

I'm not at liberty to say how the bitcoin donations will be spent as it will be a joint decision. We did an assessment last year and found that we could deliver computers at £10 per unit to certain places where it may have cost £80 to buy similar spec machines locally. So it makes financial sense and also saves computers in the UK from being scrapped. We are big fans of the Raspberry Pi at the Turing Trust. Later this year we'll have finished our first off-grid classroom made from an old shipping container fitted out with Pi's and a PV solar system. You can read more here if you are interested: http://turingtrust.co.uk/the-turing-trust-e-library-2/the-solarberry/Thanks

We are aware the public's perception of Bitcoin isn't always very positive so we hope we can play a part in helping to change that.

The name reminds me of the Turing Foundation in Homeland series..
Checked around a bit and actually looks quite good! I hope bitcoin gives you some extra exposure and donations. Especially that solarpie project looks really cool. I can imagine that a low cost lower power machine such as the pi is ideal for your goals.
