Hi everyone,

We'd like to share a project we've been working on:

https://shakepay.co

A bitcoin debit card that is available in upwards of 80 currencies (so you're never paying fx fees), can be issued into multiple card numbers, and can be used in contactless tap & pay terminals.

Here's a bit from a recent blog post:

Quote
Funds always in the possession of the consumer

What if you could hold possession of all of your assets until the moment of transaction?

Following the decentralized, trustless nature of bitcoin and digital currencies, we're building a product that keeps your funds with you at all times. Only at the moment of transaction will you sign over your funds using a multi-signature wallet.

Ability to spend anywhere

Zero foreign transaction fees. Your card becomes a multi-currency card allowing you to spend like a local in more than 80 currencies. At the moment of transaction, Shake quickly calculates the realtime exchange rate using Bitpay's Bitcoin Best Bid Rate and charges 0% on the exchange.

Mobile tap & pay. Your phone becomes your wallet with mobile tap & pay. All contactless-enabled terminals around the world will now accept your phone as a method of payment.

Plastic cards. For those moments where tap & pay is not available, a plastic EMV card can be used as an alternative to swipe or chip-in.

Virtual cards. All cards can be used for online payments.

Safety and protection

Issue multiple cards. You can issue a card number for every merchant. One for Netflix, one for Amazon, and one for your day-to-day expenses. If a merchant gets hacked, you can easily issue a new card, transfer your funds over and voila! You're safe from fraudulent charges. Use them like throwaway cards.

Set rules on a card. Now that you have cards for different purposes, you can set rules for authorizing transactions. For example, a mobile provider card can only be used for $37.99 on the 7th of the month and a grocery card can have a limit of $100 per week.

http://blog.shakepay.co/2016/bonjour-world/

Today we're launching Shake Alpha, an early version of Shake, that allows you to tap & pay at contactless terminals with a USD or EUR card. It comes in two flavours:

- A mobile app that allows you to tap & pay at contactless terminals

https://i.imgur.com/lYFh4zK.gif

- A web app that displays your virtual card to pay online

https://i.imgur.com/5j6JJu7.gif

We're sending out a bunch of invites today so add your email to https://shakepay.co.

Happy to answer any questions.

Correct. The card is also free on signup and there are no monthly fees.

It's a VISA debit card Smiley And for the moment we cannot onboard anyone with a US address. We're workin' on it.

Sorry to bump again, but are there any new developments on this project? How is it better than TenX or Monaco? I'm currently in the process of selecting a Bitcoin card - so convince me  Grin

I am interested in getting a crypto card as well but seems like it can only onboard users from the list of countries.

P.s: Shakepay cards are issued by Wavecrest, which means that you won't be able to have a card anymore if you don't live in the Europe. TenX is using a different issuer, and they said in a recent video that they will be able to provide cards for countries outside the Europe.

I have a VCC with Shakepay and already emptied all my balance because of that.

Thanks for reply - I do live in Europe, but at the moment I'm leaning towards Tenx, so I think I'll get their card.

Shake Atm/Debit card can not be accessible in many countries. I tried to contact them and ask if their availabilty in my country but they just turned a deaf ear. First of all it got crypto card fee plus on every transaction you have to pay fees.. Not positive from my opinion.
