Sadly, there is no method to stop bots. Xapo emails would be good, because those need to be verified by phone number, but for just single faucet claim that is too much to asked of course. Faucet games is other thing too, but thats not exatly same thing as faucet anymore.

It depends, is your faucet on faucet rotators with high traffic? If so, the referrals might be from the owners of their rotators; many users use their rotators, so they get a lot of referral commission. You can check where your traffic comes from with google analytics.

Google analytics is the best way to check out your problem and installation is easy, you should go install it for your website. If you want to be completely safe, ban those ips. However, you may drive away traffic.

Implement a script that prevents a user from claiming your faucet if the IP of the user was recently used to claim your faucet already in the last 24/48/72/whatever hours.
Yeah, implement a script that detected a user IP behind tor, proxy etc..

Having several pages to go through before claim helps againsts bots, but dont stop them completely.

Having the same faucet as everyone else is asking the bots to attack you. Im developing small plugins to make it harder for bots to collect. If you use several small deterrents to bots, they will ignore you and go after the Faucets that use open source faucets. Would you pay 10$USD for a plugin to stop bots? Not forever, if someone is out to attack your faucet, they will succeed, but who hates you enough? Most bot owners will just ignore you and go to other faucets.

... Most bot owners will just ignore you and go to other faucets. I am not 100% sure about that. I think many bot owners don't even manually check what faucets they are attacking.

However, it may make it harder for users to claim. Try PM'ing OP for a copy, I think he is willing to sell it for $10 USD in bitcoin. OP, I think maybe you should give away some vouch copies to high ranking members who are interested to prove that it works. Good luck selling your plugin!

1. Require registration with email confirmation. 2. Add a captcha. 3. Block proxy access to your faucet. 4. Implement another form of income even if they do use a bot you still get money. Like shorte.st or adf.ly 5. Block Tor access to your faucet.
There are many ways to prevent bots from using your site, just have to be creative
