Hey there, I currently have 4 S3 miners. I am going to purchase an S5 soon. What do most of you guys do with your old miners? Do you guys sell your old miners or just use them in your mining software?
This is why people should turn to cloud mining, so that they do not have to deal with old hardware sales to recover initial investments.

Except for the fact that 99% of sites purporting to be 'cloud mining' are actually ponzi scams. Just like the one in GG's sig.
There are a few paying ones for now, but i'm not going to say anything because some person is going to -rep me for posting good things about a ponzi.. AGAIN.
Cloud mining is very insecure and most people would just rather have physical hardware hashing shares that they can fully control rather than some service promising hashrate that may not ever have been generated. Simply go to a website and sell your miner, and when the next gen ones come out you'll be a few dollars closer to a new miner.

But he has hardware worth money still be likely could get 40-50 dollars each.  So 160-200 dollars after selling and can be used to buy more bitcoins.  You have been trolling speculation hard with your sig.  But it will not help.

Fact is simple having hardware is nice as you own something.  Heck if he gets 50 each that's almost half a S7 at this point.   So lot's of options for him having these units.

That is true. With the hardware ASIC miner, in the winter, you can heat your house with that. With cloud mining, you cannot.

I personally don't run a miner at a loss for heat.   At a point I did run mines that were profitable in certain rooms for free heat, but after going a little bigger and getting a mining area with power all ran to it I ended up just mining them in it this winter.  And did not go for free heat messing around with putting them in separate rooms.

I think the bigger thing is the part about being able to sell it at the end.  Even S3's 40-50 bucks buy BTC with sells... you get a little extra.  In day's where ROI is harder I take all the extra profit I can squeeze out of miners, which includes selling previous gen gear.

You can always mine Altcoins if you can afford to keep them running.

I'm mining Peercoin with 1 of my handful of S5's right now, and I plan on using the rest of my S5's after the halving because it'll be pointless to mine BTC at $0.70 a day per miner. I easily find a block with peercoin every day or every other day on my one S5.

Back in my day Bitcoin used to cost $69

You make the exact same amount of money mining BTC or Peercoin. After the halving more people will mine Peercoin and in the end you will always make the same amount.

Peercoin has very movable difficulty.

If you spend time you can mine when diff is down and not up.

It has a very good upside coming up to the btc 1/2 ing.

But I do agree after the btc 1/2 ing it will see some kind of shift

Peercoin diff will rise after the 1/2ing as the profitability of ppc is the same as btc right now. People will see that after the 1/2 ing and soon we'll be seeing a diff spike in ppc as well. I'm mining with 2 S5s on ppc solo, found 2 blocks so far. Doing good, + profit.

One of the best examples is the block erupters.  They at this point  should be very very cheap.  They were mass made and a lot of us owened more then we ever would want at this point (I sold mine off long ago when the blade was new).

But people still buy block erupters for collecting (which some do all colors) and learning.  They bring far more then what is logical.  I have sold MANY generations on ebay and it's worked out well.  Only one I have gotten returned was a R1 router as they said it was not a reliable router.... which who buys a R1 to act as a router for other devices to connect to.... but that is another story.

Craigslist in my area was not so successful but I'm in the technological sticks. Sold a few on ebay with no issues.
Kept an S1 after an under-volt pencil mod, gave some away.

There 'used' to be more truth in forums than anywhere else.  Twitter:  @cryptobitchicks  Spock: "I am expressing multiple attitudes simultaneously. To which are you referring?"  INTJ-A

I'm actually thinking of selling it on ebay. Hopefully I can make $50 off of each one. They have made .1 bitcoin in the past month, going to sell one and buy a S5 to increase profit.

For you to get someone to buy miners that old, you need to sell really cheap. I'm thinking $40... excluding shipping.
