Hi
So I keep seeing some members with pretty cool addresses, like BoeLens. I've also seen a couple for dice sites that begin with 1Dice....

How do people obtain these, surely it is just random and then the private keys go up for sale? But then couldn't the seller just keep a copy of the private keys? I would like to obtain one really, but I would feel it is a risk because the user could keep the private keys. If there is some sort of magical way of generating them, then how? I doubt it though because then people could easily crack other peoples wallets!

Thanks

Make sure you back up your wallet regularly! Unlike a bank account, nobody can help you if you lose access to your BTC.

There is a way that the seller does not have the private key.
U should contact shorena, because shorena knows how to do it and also sell these.

I'll send him a PM now, I will also have to investigate a bit on how I can ensure Shorena will not have the private keys (not that I don't trust them, but I have never interacted with him before).
Thanks for the reply.

These addresses are called vanity addresses. I don't quite fully understand how the address were generated with those patterns but you can check shorenas' thread in here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1257817.0
