Ok folks, i have modified the default icon for the electrum package to be more modern and trendy, it can definitely attract more users this way. If we want electrum to be used by many people (the more people use it the more servers they are and the more safe it gets) it has to be trendy.

Most bitcoin users are average folks and like trendy stuff, so I designed trendy icons for electrum:

Instead of:

This is better for ELECTRUM-BTC

And this for ELECTRUM-LTC

I think orange is the color of bitcoin and the icon should reflect that. Similarly for the LTC package, litecoin is gray colored, therefore the icon should reflect it.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I also hate the current icon as well personally and now it's even worst then before because now it have white background + the first icon you posted on the top WHICH looks ugly on the desktop , It should be at least PNG with transparent background .
But well , you don't need them to approve your idea I suppose . You should share the .ico as-well , that way anyone could change his electrum icon if he wants to , there is plenty of programs to change icons without the need of any programming knowledge .

Sure you can compile it, or if you dont know how, then just use a shortcut, and change the shortcut's icon to that.

You can convert PNG to ICO file here:

The default icon is way better than whatever you have composed.Just constructive criticism,no offence. The mentality that users are attracted to the icon instead of the functionality,is wrong. As a daily electrum user,I actually never cared about the icon until today. Its up to people though,I'm a Linux user,I love in Shell/Bash commands instead of a GUI.Maybe that's my programming background. No company ever said ,believe in us because we have a kickass logo right ?

Yet it is true, a colorful icon is more trendy , and people like trendy stuff so it will bring more users.

If we want electrum to be popular we need to make it trendy.

We're talking about a highly advanced transactions management application here which is coded in Python.Trendy is a vague term to be used when we talk about such applications.Had it been snapchat,I agree.Maybe a little advanced UI(which honestly I would not even need) is acceptable as it will make it easier for noobs to use.But again,it depends what kind of audience we're targeting here..

All audiences. The more users -> more donators -> more servers and easier for the development too = Better Electrum

What is wrong in that?

You said that the advanced users dont care about the icon. Ok, then they should not be opposed to a more trendy one, to target the newbie users.
