Depends on how you use your BTC. I wouldn't keep it on your phone, if you lose your phone you lose your BTC.

If you do a lot of transactions, you should use a online wallet for a portion of your funds (Blockchain, MoneyPot, Xapo etc), and you should use a paper wallet / trezor for the majority of your BTC.

Experienced people suggest to use Online Storages only for small amounts. But it's a good beggining if you are starting using BTC now. I use BlockChain.info and never had any problem with it, it's a very trusted online wallet.

For high amounts the suggest is to storage on an offline internet computer, preventing against hackers.

I'd suggest a hardware wallet , although expensive. Otherwise, I think a laminated paper wallet printed with a uv resistant ink. Or make a bracelet of the private key with alphanumeric plastic  beads. Use a different color for the capital characters. I'd use the hardware wallet for a deposit box solution, the other two for something I would bury in the yard, or put in a filing cabinet.

If the storage is for a while and you don't want to touch the coins, hardware or paper wallet is the way to go.  Trezor for hardware and bitaddress (dot) com for paper wallet.  There are some threads on this forum can help you with setting these wallets up or with reviews.

If you want to do short-term storage, because you need to use the coins a lot, I would consider an online wallet like blockchain.info.

Whatever online wallet you choose, make sure you have 2-factor authentication on it so your wallet doesn't get hacked.

A good link that gives you many options: https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

Before you decide which wallets to use, search the web/this forum for what people are saying about the wallets.  I know some people who HATE blockchain.info's wallet, for example.

Depends on the volume of bitcoin you're looking to store, for small amounts I'd recommend a desktop wallet on a clean computer with a password such as Electrum and/or a mobile wallet such as Mycelium.

For larger volume, cold storage wallets are the most secured ones, you can make a cold storage wallet using Electrum on an offline machine or print paper wallets or if you can afford to purchase a hardware wallet.

I would generally divide it into 4 storage sources:

Short-term small amounts for storage, for occasional day-to-day usage: A typical wallet e.g. http://www.blockchain.info
Medium-term medium amounts for storage, for trading: You got to rely on some reliable trading platform e.g. BitStamp (http://www.bitstamp.net/) or BitFinex
Long-term sizeable amounts for storage, with no activity: Trezor, hardware wallet (http://www.bitcointrezor.com)
Long-term sizeable amounts for storage, linked to some real-world investment, so it continues to grow: Keza (http://www.getkeza.com)

Every online wallet can collapse anytime. I suggest that you need to always use your bitcoin/s in your wallet.

I agree that fee is high, but if you wish safety you need to give a little. I think that fee is a small price for that.
For me blockchain is a good choice. I think my coins are safe there, but I don't have some big amount. For people who have a lot of coins I thin external hard disk is the best solution. At least I think that I will use exactly that if I ever win some crazy amount of coins.

Really that you think fee high? To prevent it i try to move only high BTC amounts. If you send many small transactions the wallet will take highest fees. Like who uses faucets and send small amounts of 10.000, 20.000 transactions to wallet.
