yes. obviously. If I found that the new technology give me a brighter future then bitcoin, I would definitely switch bitcoin to the new technology. but happily it is really hard to beat bitcoin for new technology. bitcoin took his place and breaking it not a play of child.
and Of course I am competable with bitcoin..

We know Bitcoin was the first and is the most trusted Crypto currency out there at the moment and that it is backed by a huge network with tons of hashing power and good security, BUT would you

forget about all of that and go for a alternative technology with better features, once it is developed by all these banks? {Permissioned, private ledgers} They will obviously just copy the concept and

add some bells n whistles and then improve on scalability.

The governments will obviously make things easier for them and make it more difficult for Bitcoin, and then Bitcoin will start to lose ground and things will change in their favor. How do we stop that

or turn that against them? {The only solution I can see, is for us to educate the public and to prove to them that Bitcoin is better}

What will you do? Turn to a permissioned ledger, because things will be easier or stay with Bitcoin out of principle or because you support financial freedom?
honestly i hard to decide that,i love bitcoin at first sight Grin but honestly i need more money if its possible earn more from that new technology, and also i hope that new technology more easy to get than bitcoin.

For traders, I would think that a coin's market liquidity plays a key role when it comes to which cryptocurrency they decide to trade. Technological features probably come in second.

Bitcoin need more than 6 years to establish and get recognise to world about its value but now number of alts are emerging everyday taking bitcoin as support. I don't think any alts with bettter service than bitcoin can replace bitcoin i mean bitcoin can't be lesser than other alts as lots of developer supports bitcoin.

Except if a coin will be financed by the government and be promoted and backed...There is no impossible to the governments who dream of overtaking bitcoin...except that it will always end up centralized...

without thinking twice. When it first became possible to utilize yout radeon graphics card to generate btc, I managed to mine 2 blocks. I did not give much about it and lost track of btc - that were the first 100 btc down the drain. Then, I managed to fill my wallet up to 260 btc, shortly after that btc crashed down to 3 USD and I thought thats it and sold when it was back up to around 30 USD. Then I lost interest again and when I heard thT BTC was worth over 1000 USD for a short time and that I could have had 360 of coins lying around I had learned my fucking lesson.

Why switch? There can be more than one. Coins and technologies are not jealous on each other  Smiley

There are altcoins that - imho - have already better features than Bitcoin. I own some of this and some of that.
But you know, you don't have the smartest and the best to be the king. Bitcoin is still the king and will be for a while...

I don't think really that we have to switch or choose anything.
Why?
In the world we have more than 200 countries and more than 200 national currencies.
in the same way, we can have in the future 100 or 200 or even more virtual currencies and even we can create Forex only for virtualo currencies and trade them, and make profit in process Smiley
What is wrong with that?
It's just concept that we should have only one virtual currency.
I hope that many other virtual currencies will follow, and that we can make profit from all of them Smiley

So you are saying the 200 national currencies of the old fiat system is a good thing? Just remember that most of these currencies had no other function than representing currency value. Bitcoin is the

token for it's currency value, but the Blockchain can be used to do so much more. I have nothing against other Alt Coins... it is actually beneficial to Bitcoin, when they fail and we can learn from their

mistakes and their success. I have a problem with all these other "private" Blockchains being developed for the banks.... They will market this stolen technology as their own invention and with the help

of governments... gain the lead.

If I switch, it will be out of principle to something with the same values and motivation as Bitcoin. { A public, permission less, decentralized and trustless network }

Well, I wouldn't say all traders as there are certainly some that care what Bitcoin is. Otherwise, I do agree with you.

I want to determine, how many people use Bitcoin for the innovation and disruption it brings and if they will still use it, when these banks or financial organizations come up with a competing
technology. There are some people, who care less about the principle value of this new technology. {The disruptive side} and only care about the profits to be made.
Okay, yeah that is the right answer to that question. Basically, it is not really hard to determine whether someone is here for profit or for other reasons in most cases.

Bitcoin is still the king and will be for a while...
It will remain the top for a long while. Even if you combine all the altcoin's adoption, it doesn't come close to Bitcoin.

new technology which better than bitcoin,it will never exist,i said bitcoin is the best in it class so far, except there was crypto currecny which better than bitcoin, better price, better transaction and anonymity,it would great, and i will switch to that, but not leave bitcoin at all.
That is false. Of course it is possible that an altcoin gets produced with superior features (a few, or almost all), but with the nature of open-source it can't stay that way for long. Bitcoin can always adopt some or all of those features.

well to be honest i can't think what could be better than Bitcoin, because it already have huge security, it is easy to use and it have huge potential now, so i don't really think that we will get something better soon

but if someday there will be something than bitcoin,  i won't go to 100% with it but i will go like 25% with it just in case it will be very popular

When a new technology which is better than bitcoin, we don't leave bitcoin and use the new one.
Instead, we should implant/add that technology to bitcoin if possible/work on P2P/decentralized system.

Also, i doubt there'll be a new technology which is much more better than bitcoin.
yes we are will always stay on bitcoin,we love bitcoin,no matter if there was new technology, even that technology better than bitcoin,i will not leave bitcoin, yes i'm agree, maybe technology like bitcoin will never founded again.

If there's something that works, is battle tested, isn't run by assholes - ideally no humans at all - upholds Bitcoin's principles and is actually appealing to the masses then I'd go for it. I really can't see where it would arrive from though.

Bitcoin is currently the top-notch crypto coin and I don't think there will be another candidate to dethrone it for the foreseeable future. The good thing about open-source projects is that they can quickly adapt to changes and evolve into a better product with time passing. However I do not believe in fanboyism in any form so if Bitcoin development is stalling and new better things come up on the horizon I won't be sacrificing possible profit by staying with the old technology out of nostalgia.

I thought that ETH would be good, because the coin itself actually had a use. That's what bitcoin lacks in comparison for gold. Gold can be used for decoration, not just an asset. Even diamonds have an industrial use. Bitcoin? Well... The best you could do is stake it (not going to happen)

I will switch. But bitcoin can also copy or adopt the new technology. Bitcoin should be able to evolve all the time.
obviously, but unfortunately seems its hard for bitcoin to make bitcoin better itself, just see the blocksize limit,it's only 1mb and always got bottleneck in every transaction, but the dev took 1 year for solving this one

Scalability is a perpetual problem to be addressed. This debate will never, ever go away. Throughput vs. decentralization is tied to Bitcoin's raison d'etre.

Controversial changes should be extremely difficult and preferably impossible to make. This immutability of Bitcoin rule enforcement is what enables its value proposition. Without such immutability, the majority can effectively steal the minority's money. Consider one example: 50 years down the road, the vast majority of bitcoins will have been mined. Late adopters, accordingly, hold a disproportionately small amount of bitcoins vs. early adopters (and their heirs). One might imagine that these late adopters, then, would be interested in further inflating the supply, in order to obtain for themselves a larger proportion of the network's bitcoin-denominated wealth. As time goes on, more and more (a majority) of users fit this demographic, as over time, mined bitcoins (accumulated) are distributed through the network into more and more hands. So, this creates a situation where the majority has a distinct economic interest in stealing from the minority by removing consensus money supply rules and obtaining for themselves more bitcoins. While supply/demand considerations suggest this would hurt all bitcoin holders (in the form of reduced price), it would disproportionately affect early adopters.

To the OP's question, bitcoin is not currently the superior technology in this field, and likely won't be in the future. That doesn't mean that any alts will ever really compete with its predominant use cases and value proposition. Due to the size of its userbase and the scope of money invested into the system, we do not have the option -- as alt developers do -- to implement hasty software changes, especially without full community support.

Yep, pretty much my same thoughts. I've played with Paycoins the moment it got released in the market. It was very promising yes, but it didn't really take long before the market took it down. Guess what i'm also trying to say in addition to this is that there's more to this cryptocurrencies than just the technology it offers. A big factor now would be is how it's being used and patronize by the market now. Bitcoin for as long as cryptocurrencies exists, will always be here.

it is a hard question to just say yes or no to.
it really depends on the situation, and just having better features doesn't mean more security or being really better than bitcoin.
it needs to have all the good features of bitcoin and anything extra it has as a better feature shouldn't make it less secure (like having faster blocks mined)
