I have no idea how they profit. some said that they're going to open up some services on top of OpenBazaar, but I'm not seeing anything like that.

Point to take note of:

It's very important to select a trustworthy moderator. If a moderator is dishonest he can join with the other party to release funds regardless of the situation.

Finally the long wait is over. Hoping for it to be an actual success in a legal way and not another silk road scenario. The only thing I have second thought about is, the moderators that would act as escrow providers, it would have been better if some known escrow providers were given this job instead of other users (even though we could check their feedback there).

Thats how it was planned originally, maybe they switched to a different system for now and will change it in the future? Certainly sounds like a flaw to me though.

Great stuff, I hope OpenBazaar live up to the hype and the expectation of the many people who waited for it for months. I had a look at it during the beta testing phase and I also configured an account. Things looked very promissing, but I am also worried about the mods rendering the escrow and not people already trusted in the community, doing it now. ^hmmmmm^

Really? That is a good piece of news to us Bitcoiner and decentralized system advocates. I will be checking their website and download the software as soon as I get back to home. :p.

Good news for BTC and a specially good for future escrows
P2P shopping, I wonder how it will correlate with law in some countries
forbidding p2p? Is it going to be banned?

Was about time this got released. People were psyched about it 2 years ago and then it started going slow. The time does seem to have had an impact on its impact, as bitcoin price rose only a couple of dollars on introduction.

Will be interesting to watch this one play out. I guess a lot of people have been waiting for something like this. As long as the userbase grows fast and the scams remain within bounds, it has a shot imo.

Anyone planning on selling something there?

Since a lot of high ranked profile members in here are downloading it, I think it should not contain any spyware or keylogger, so I am downloading it too in my test Windows PC.

It has been so long awaited! Glad it's finally live.

I played around with it in the testnet stage. I like the layout and the decentralized nature.

It seems inevitable that questionable stuff will be sold on OB. There is no way to moderate that. Taking that into consideration, I can't see myself opening a shop to sell stuff I have around the house, alongside people selling child porn or human trafficking. Until I see that content can be moderated, I think I'll stick to selling on Purse.io

If you are a seller you always have to run Open bazaar app on your machine only this way others can see items you are selling.
Or you can host it virtually if you like but this program must be running. If you are a  customer there is no such limitation.

I wouldn't say that it is a flaw, but I do see potential situations in which this could end badly.

Why would you even suspect that? It is open source.

There's nothing wrong with that and I have no idea why you should let it affect you. Just ignore it.
