It's your lucky day because I'm selling my Gridseed mini (5 chip) micro farm! Own a piece of history!

The sale includes:

  • 13 x Gridseed 5 chip mini's
  • 3 x 12 volt power supplies
  • 2 x ORICO P10-U2 10 port USB hubs
  • All the USB and 12 volt connectors for each unit
  • A controller that I never used (I have no idea if it works or not)
  • A whole mess of brass stand offs (not sure how many)

Here's some pictures:

All the Gridseeds work. I've only mined Scrypt with them, never SHA256.

All the equipment has been pampered in a dust free, air conditioned data center environment.

I removed some of the fans in order to work the units into the physical configuration I was after. I'll give you all the fans, but it's up to you if you want to reattach them. You don't need them if you're mining scrypt.

One of the units has a bad hashing LED that won't light, but it's always submitted shares nonetheless.

Edit: Two of the PSUs have bad fans. I didn't notice because these were running in a data center. Lack of fans doesn't seem to matter, at least when running in a cold environment. The PSUs with bad fans are not even warm to the touch. If you care about this, replacement fans can be found online for a few dollars.

Buyer pays shipping. I prefer US sales.

Escrow with OgNasty or philipma1957 is fine by me, buyer pays the fee.

Looking for $250. Make me an offer.

I had some of the very first ones of these to hit the US back when they first came out.  I can remember paying $200 each, and that was only because I bought 150 of them lol.  For a short time they cranked out the highest income of any ASICs I've ever had, back when LTC was $30-40 and diff was 10k or so.

I didn't think these ever got ROI because right when they came out BTC started to crash and the difficulty skyrocketed.

I'd be interested to play with those, I never had any usb asics before.

What's the noise on these psu? is it possible to have them in your room?

Also do you put them all on a hub and then on a raspi? does the hub have to be powered?

Last, how much would it be to ship those to France (zip 22000)

Cheers!

EDIT : just saw the answers to most of my questions, but you're saying you never used the conroller, how did you control them?

EDIT : just saw the answers to most of my questions, but you're saying you never used the conroller, how did you control them?

If you don't dual mine them (script and SHA256 at the same time) you don't need the fans, so the Gridseeds themselves can be silent. The PSUs have small fans. I think that one of them might be noisy, but it's hard to tell because I'm running these in a data center that's already very noisy.

They're powered by the 12 volt power supplies. You can use any USB 2 hub (even unpowered), but I'm offering my ORICO powered hubs.

Currently I'm using a RPi and Minera to control these, but I want to keep the RPi. As mentioned, I don't know anything about the other controller, so it's as-is. It was sent to me by accident and the sender didn't want it back.

I think I would recommend that you get an RPi and Minera, like I'm using.

As far as shipping to France is concerned, I have no idea what it would be. I can do some weighing today and come up with an estimate.

I didn't think these ever got ROI because right when they came out BTC started to crash and the difficulty skyrocketed.

Depends on how early you got them, they returned something like $14-15k for me the first month but that dropped off really quickly.  I also did a minor volt mod to mine to get up to 400khash each from the stock 360ish, that helped as well. If you got them a month or so later at the same price that I paid you didn't do well at all because you missed that first few weeks of crazy high profitability when the network was still almost all GPUs and these were just coming online.  Diff doubled during that first month, and LTC price went down by like 30% IIRC.  That was also right about when hashrate rental became a thing, and people were speculating on altcoins like crazy, most of which were forks of LTC.  I'd rent them out for 120-150% of LTC mining rate and did pretty well on that too, and would mine on a profit-switching pool when they weren't rented.  By month 3 I was selling them off for $80-100/ea.  I did ok by the time all was said and done.

During that timeframe I also upgraded to several GS blades, then got some 1st gen 30MH Zeuses, then some G-blacks.  The only way you made money during that time was by hustling with the hardware and continually upgrading and selling off your old stuff.  By the time I shut down my farm I was up to about 600MH of gear, that was a long time ago.  Most of it sold here, actually.  Then I moved on to Spondoolies/Bitmain gear.  Now I don't have anything at all cause the hardware prices don't make any sense with my electricity cost Sad

Was a fun ride though.

Unfortunately shipping is going to be very expensive. The package weighs around 23 pounds and is 21" L x 12" W x 9" H.

Here are the shipping choices that I've found to your zip in France (lowest to highest):

  • USPS: $134
  • DHL: $248
  • FedEx: $276
  • UPS: $289

Maybe there are better rates out there, but I don't know what else to try. Unless you're OK paying a premium for shipping, it's probably better for me to sell to someone in the US.

I discovered that two of the PSUs have bad fans, although it doesn't seem to matter.

I updated the original post with an edit disclosing the fan issue.

Wow I didn't imagine that much...

Well hit me back if you lower the price to 270 shipping included, but I guess you'd better find a local buyer.

Cheers and thanks for your time mate!

These are still available. Sure they won't make much money. But they're great for teaching about mining. Or for a mining history collection.
