Hi all
I'm currently having some issues with the new r9 nano vga. I own a couple of msi ans a couple of sapphire models, obviously all AMD reference with the same frequency. I've just installed windows 10 pro 64 but it seems that there are a lot of issues, driver ones for sure, with this os and the nano's.
I am seeking a valid config to let these nano work correcly, with x11 and blake256 8 round. I've tried at least 6 driver releases on win 10 but I wasn't able to let x11 work. These are the results using the nicehash miner 1.3.0.3:
Win 8.1 64, 15.12 whql x11 7.0 MH/s (nicehash dakcoin-mod), blake256 8 round 2.3GH/s (a cgminer release)
Win 10 64, 16.3.1 whql x11 275KH/s (sgminer 5.3.0), blake256 8 round ... instable sometimes, 2.2GH/s
I'm pretty skilled and it's not an error due intensity (I 11) but I haven't got so much time these weeks.
I am willing to give a bounty of 0.1 btc to whoever gives me the correct settings for both the algos (°), to obtain 20MH/s on x11 and 2.7+GH/s on blake 256. (°: obviously I need to test them first). I've tried all the ones on the cryptocompare sites.. no-go.
Please share your settings, I'll share my efficiency findings here in the coming days.

I would try using 15.11 and using sgminer 5.1.0

X11 mining is not optimized for the NANO. X11 is only good if you have a Tahiti based GPU where you make 11-12MH/s

That'll get you there At first thank you all Unfortunately 16.1.1, that I tried before as 5 other releases, don't fix the issue. 6.6 MH on X11 with a single nano, and sgminer 5.1.0 Still seeking for a resolution, a 290x/390x can work at 15MH/s with this driver version. 16.1.1 drivers on Windows 10. That'll get you there Is 16.1.1 also faster for Ethereum? it's not that it's faster, unfortunately the 16.3+ Drivers from AMD will let you waste 30% of hashrate, and given the latest ETH decrese of profitability, the X11 kernel needs to be optimized for the AMD OpenCl with the Nano GPU's. They are simply phenomenal regarding the W/GH ratios, but they aren't cheap. |

Hi. I've read it, but I am seeking for certainty, not suppositions ;-) What kind of vga have you got? I've tested with those: 7950/70/90/280x/290/290x/nano, with 7 driver releases and probably 5 miner versions, on 2 o.s. (8.1 and 10pro). I've published this thread because of it's possible to read in some mining hardware comparation sites, that a nano is capable of the aforementioned speeds, with x11 and blake256 8 round. Given the r9 290x performance on x11 (~ 15MH ) and blake256 (2.0GH), I wasn't expecting 7.7MH and 2.3 respectively, there's something wrong in all honesty. |

There aren't any optimized kernels for the nano. That's why they are slow. Just mine ETH with it.

I noticed that the Ethereum mining is less profitalbe now. |

Won't work on Ubuntu. It's a compiled version for Windows with a modified algorithm.c file. Thus, on Ubuntu, this won't work. It can work, if you modify the algorithm file to be able to read those binaries. If you ask Wolf very nicely, he could and maybe will help you. But i kind of doubt it as it's a hack on a hack. |

Hi Eliovp Thanks a lot for your suggestions, unfortunately you seem to be a very lucky person, because of we're struggling a lot  Would you be so kind to upload maybe the entire nicehash miner version in dropbox, or something like that, so I could do further testing? Please report these elements: type of os, and 32/64 bit version driver number, if WHQL or beta possibly type of VGA (you've got a fury right? That could be the issue..) type of nicehash miner revision benchmark screen of nicehash, also with the other algo values (to compare the similarities) have you tried also to mine directly dash, maybe on suprnova? That could be easier for us Thank you |

That could be easier for us Thank you Sure thing! Windows 10 64Bit Driver, just upgraded to 16.4.1, hash rate is a little beter. Nah, R9 Nano's "i 'had' the fury's." It's the 5.1.0 version with the hawaii bins that are included renamed to Fiji. I do not use the Nicehash software. I take the sgminer version and it's binaries out of the "bin" folder and run it from there. No i haven't, i just mined to Nicehash. Here's the one i use, i included my config X11.conf (change your btc address) and run Nicehash x11.bat https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_cBBoZ_PTwOSTNaRTVycm9acG8Good luck! |
