I am in the Hague for the weekend, and I had read a while back that it is a real Bitcoin hotspot.

http://www.coindesk.com/video-hollands-bitcoin-boulevard-celebrates-two-successful-months/
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-boulevard-bitcoin-part-everyday-life-dutch-neighbourhood/

I just went down to the 'bitcoin boulevard' and walked the length of the streets, there was 1 closed vegetarian restaurant and 1 expensive other restaurant.

Are we being lied to about the bitcoin revolution, or did I miss something??  I was in Berlin last year too, and found 1 place that accepted bitcoin, and that was because I searched for it in advance and travelled across town to find it!

This is a surprise because I thought Germany stores were accepting bitcoin more than any other country.
Bitcoin boulevard, you would think it would be the mainstreet to do all your bitcoin purchases of products and services from what I have read. I think we are all being lead down the wrong street if you ask me.

People should remember one thing... If a merchant starts to accept Bitcoin, the community should start to support them. These merchants will not continue supporting a currency and training their staff,

if there is nobody paying in Bitcoin. We "converted" some shops in the area and we regularly visit them and pay with Bitcoin, and this motivates them to keep on supporting us. The one that gets the

most support is the local Pub.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes ... I know some shops stopped accepting Bitcoin, because sales were too low and also because they paid too much fees for the Bitcoin ATM.  Roll Eyes

Peter Todd took a trip to every location on earth selling stuff for 0-conf on his RBF advocacy tour, took less time than you'd think.  Needless to say why, but... most of them stopped accepting BTC that day. Thankfully, impact to the bottom line was about nil.

I noticed this too. Many retailers here accepted bitcoin early last year but then when the value dropped so did their support for it. Thus they removed this "accepting bitcoin" from their signs on their store front.
There just doesn't seem to be any loyalty from the world when it comes to working with bitcoin at a retailer's point of view.

Well that is exactly what I was trying to do! I did the same thing in Berlin too.
I used to order take away using lieferservice using bitcoin, but then they got taken over and now don't accept bitcoin anymore, so I switched to another company.

It makes little difference to a big company, but for the little guys I would expect bitcoiners to flock to them, apparantly that isn't the case though.  I'm going to the vegi place later anyway!

Elwar has a thread on here somewhere detailing lots of sites & companies that accept bitcoin. I'm not great with the search function but it's out there somewhere Smiley

Well everything went well in the vegetarian restaurant.  I had to go to the bar and scan their PC with my Blockchain app, but it was all pretty easy.
The waitress didn't seem too sure what to do, so I guess they aren't overwhelmed with bitcoiners coming in!

I also asked in advance, in case they had changed their policy. They do have a sticker in the window though, so I would have been disappointed if they hadn't accepted it!

I will be looking for somewhere else this evening, hopefully there is some italian place too.

It's one thing to claim you're accepting Bitcoin. Quite another to make it an ongoing proposition. It would be interesting to see the proportion of business acceptance that's actually chugging along quite nicely.

I was in Nederland few monts ago and Hague, Roterdam and Amsterdam are beautiful in every aspect, and this boulevard they have in their cities are extremely facinating. I have two citizenship, but if were able to choose, I'll pick my bags and run to Nederland. Whata crazy and awesome country. It was my first time there, and they love Bitcoin, I think it's the most advanced Bitcoin culture in the world. You can buy food, flowers, sunglasses, beer, weed, cloths, I mean, anything. Congrats to the dutch people.

Well that wasn't exactly my bitcoin experience, I managed one meal there for bitcoin, otherwise I was stuck using Euro.

We really did look around too, they have stickers saying what payment methods they accept at the entrance of most restaurants and cafes, I saw 2 or 3 Bitcoin stickers.
