after i read this news
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddCoin/comments/4df47q/state_of_the_reddnation_apr_04_2016/

i get this
" Still there are some activities to complete on the v2 wallet before I am happy to create a more general release, with language translations forming the bulk of the work to do. Suffice to say, I am somewhat pedantic to make sure everything is covered, especially since our audience covers many different nationalities. "

so reddcoin will update new wallet..?
im still confused

Reddcoin v2.0

Testing has progressed to the final stages and the Reddcoin network upgrade is being simulated on testnet. By running different versions of the wallet (v2.0, based on Bitcoin; v1.4.1.0, based on Litecoin) and tinkering with the settings that control when the switch-over that makes the network reject old version blocks will happen, @gnasher has been able to observe what will happen as the public release of Reddcoin v2.0 is adopted.

For the public release the switch-over from a network that accepts old-version blocks and new-version blocks to a network that accepts only new-version blocks will happen when 85% or more blocks being generated are new-version.

Confirmed by testing, when the switch-over kicks in to enforce new-version block rules then although Reddcoin v1.4.1.0 will still be able to transact Reddcoins and stake blocks, these blocks (old-version) will be rejected, as expected.

For more testing @gnasher has been running v2.0 nodes on mainnet; everything is working as it should.

Other activities linked to this work include writing documentation and making contact with exchanges and third-party services to inform them of the upcoming release.

Reddcoin Weekly Development Update

Welcome again Reddheads to another weekly update of Reddcoin Development.

This month of August will usher in a new era for Reddcoin and its future development.

After 9 months of work, and with the help of volunteers for testing and translations, and with some work provided by the original developers, I am pleased to announce that the new Reddcoin wallet v2.0 is ready to go live onto the main blockchain.

If you are not aware, with this release we have taken a fork from Bitcoin (rather than Litecoin as originally). Using this as a base, it will pave the way for easier feature implementation from the upstream Bitcoin core software that launched most other coins.

Thank you everyone for your patience while this work has been undertaken. And thank you for everyone who took the time to get involved. Over the coming months, the goal will be to introduce more upstream updates into the Reddcoin Core to further improve the Reddcoin network..

Here is the current status of what else is happening:

All work for v2.0 wallet is finalised.
Continue testing of block chain synchronisation on different platforms.
Creating an updated official bootstrap.dat and testing.
Release notes and other documentation updates.
Continue investigating the performance and behaviour of PoSV.
Investigate PoSV2 and improving network node support
    Continue development of ReddID

New v2.0 Wallet is now ready

I have been saying it for a while now, but I am pleased to announce to you that the new wallet is now ready. I have completed putting the finishing touches and tidying the repository to a point where I feel it is ready for mainstream adoption.

Release Date: 13th August 2016 AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
Notable changes

    Code-base switched to Bitcoin
    New utility applications
    Faster blockchain synchronization
    Strict signature encoding (BIP66)
    Staking v4 blocks
    OP_Return 80byte data transactions
    RPC access changes
Stakeminer will wait for both the blockchain and network on non encrypted wallets
QT includes network bandwidth and connected peer details
    New DNS Seeds added

Reddcoin v2.0 will be provided as both downloadable binaries and also compile from source

    32bit Linux binaries
    64bit Linux binaries
    32bit binaries
    64bit Windows binaries
    64bit OSx binary
    Updated bootstrap.dat

In the meantime, in preparation of this public release of the new wallet, I am continuing to contact and engage with the various major exchanges and 3rd party services to advise them that we will have an updated wallet in the near future.
Developers wanted

If your interested in c++, js or python drop me a line, I have some interesting projects that need attention.
Getting involved

We are a global community, and cross many borders but boundaries do not need to hinder us.

The crypto currency world has not reached its tipping point yet, but when it does, it is sure to escalate at an amazing rate. There are going to be many ups and downs, and an interesting ride for sure.

If you would like to get involved and dont know where to start, reach out and we will see where you can jump in @Deadpool has a great Trello site going with activities that need looking at.
In Closing

Thank you for your patience. I know in this arena things projects move fast, but I am confident that we now have a platform to move forward. There are lots of exciting projects out there, but none quite touch on the ideas I have in mind.

As always, there is still plenty to do, and there is no time for resting.

So where ever you are, enjoy your week ahead

Keep on staking!

From https://www.reddheads.com/en/reddcoin-closing-in-on-bip66/

Around ten days ago Reddcoin lead John Nash (@gnasher) announced the release of Reddcoin v2.0 to the community.

Since then there has been a steady uptake of the new wallet, which breaks from the past by reshaping Reddcoin around Bitcoin core code instead of Litecoin.

The upgrade includes a very significant security improvement in the form of BIP66 (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal #66) – the enforcement of DER-encoded transaction signatures. This improvement deals with a range of possible problems relating to ways the consensus behaviour of a blockchain can be affected by the loose way in which OpenSSL can validate signatures.

Using Reddcoin v2.0 will also ensure that users will continue to be able to stake on the network as BIP66 is deployed.

The rules have been set so that when a threshold of 85% of the blocks being generated on the Reddcoin network are the new blocks that support the BIP66 changes, BIP66 will be enforced from that moment onwards and the Reddcoin blockchain and community will have successfully achieved a major milestone in the history of the project. At the time of publication BIP66 blocks are now in a majority on the network with just over 55% share of the blockchain, and this percentage is steadily increasing.

Thanks to @gnasher’s work, the new wallet also allows users to monitor the wallet versions being used by nodes they are connecting with on the network!

The new wallet hasn't made the prices will soar rapidly yet, but you never know when a coin might pump. Just before it went offline cryptsy allowed reddcoin withdrawals when most other coin withdrawals were blocked. That gives reddcoinan advantage over the other coins that had their cryptsy cold wallets stolen.

No; prices are not 'soaring rapidly' with Reddcoin. There is still a lot of sell weight. And movement right now is SAT to SAT. Reddcoin has actually been surprisingly stable as compared with a lot of other altcoins (and over the past year price has basically doubled from 3.5 SATs to 7.5 SATs.

Buy support is strong. 100+ BTC at anytime on Poloniex. Also, roadmap and wallet updates, and decentralized updates, and RDD-ID I think will either keep price stable, or slowly drive price up.

I am a big believer in Dogecoin and Reddcoin. I am buying both. I think both are way undervalued. They had fair distribution so the price is a true market price, and they are pretty low market caps considering community involvement.

You could buy in with ETH or ETC or XMR or XRP, but you are basically buying in at a $100MM+ market cap. It takes a lot more to move a $100MM+ market cap to $200MM+ to double your money than it takes for example Dogecoin to move from $25MM market cap to $100MM market cap to quadruple your money.

Look at community involvement, development roadmaps, development team, and fair-distribution before you buy any crypto ..
