Long story short: I was scammed on giftcardforum.xyz.
Any transaction must use a "escrow" from the forum - that ends up being the scammer one. Once you send the money, they BLOCK you from the forum and take control of your account to post on your behalf to say that "I received" and "everything was alright".

For future reference:

Posts confiirming the "escrow" (my user: opde03):
https://web.archive.org/web/20160411203744/http://www.giftcardforum.xyz/t11p70-jacksonpollock-escrow

Post NOT MADE BY ME - but by the admin using my account - "confirming" that I "received" the GC:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160411204055/http://www.giftcardforum.xyz/t11p80-jacksonpollock-escrow

DO NOT USE GIFTCARDFORUM!

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Thanks for the warning.

But the lesson is, if you use any obscure websites for higher value BTC transactions (usually offering great deals) you will get scammed.

There are a few well established, trusted sites selling giftcards of all sorts for bitcoins, often with discounts. Just use those.

And if you're not convinced whether the site is legit, do a small test-transaction first (or multiple ones).

What did you bought from that forum?

Here's how they work :
You go to a selling thread and message the OP to buy something. OP then tells you to send the money to the Escrow (the Escrow is himself the OP and he has access to all accounts) Once you send the money to the Escrow, the Admin will use your account to post something like you received your goods and the escrow can be released to the seller and then disable your account.

You can check my account on that forum - I have the username Ethan1994 and escrow used my account to post that I received the goods and the escrow can be released.
I bought Amazon Gift Card.
