Of course, this goes without saying (especially if Erik will be there), but here's really hoping someone makes the distinction between Bitcoin and the Amazon credits as clear as possible.

Watching now. If this was supposed to be a debate or conversation, it's waaaay lopsided. Roger and Reason's Matthew Feeney are totally dominating intellectually and timewise. It's turning out to be a great promo for 100% favorable Bitcoin talking points.

That was pretty good.
I tried to comment in the chat area, but couldn't log in without clicking the "let us spam your facebook profile with snippets that will be totally out of context and of no interest to anyone" box.

That was extremely frustrating. Amazon Coins are not a currency, but a glorified gift card system. It's annoying when the press confuses a real currency like Bitcoin with gift cards for an app store.
I guess the intellect of the news media has to reflect that of the average viewer...

I actually thought the interviewer looked like a bright chap. Like n8r said, lots of time going into bitcoin, and almost no negativity about it. As expected, Roger did a good job. I think on occassion he didn't really reply to the question directly and talked a bit in salesmanlike sound bites, but he got out a lot of important points in a way that is easy enough to understand for the general public. Way to go!

Great job by Roger Ver and the guy from Reason. I was really happy that terms like mining, cryptography, hashes and private keys didn't rear their ugly heads to confuse and frighten the masses. When it comes to promoting bitcoin to the general public the "Keep Is Simple Stupid" principle should reign supreme.

"We've looked at this [Bitcoin] before here on HuffPost Live, but it's relevant now that Amazon is getting into this game as well."
- HuffingtonPost commentator
This was probably the most important quote from that whole session. The implications of JUST what that means for Bitcoin is huge...
Amazon, Facebook, they all see the potential, everyone is trying to get into the game... Bitcoin beats them all.

Why is it important? You can't gamble with it, purchase drugs with it, purchase cars with it, etc.

I think it's a GREAT segue tool, as long as it is followed by that immediate, "The only thing similar about the two is the word COIN." BAM... real discussion about Bitcoin ensues...

This was actually a great interview/panel. One of the few times I've seen an interview about Bitcoin bring up the black market/gambling/tax evasion aspects without dwelling on them. So many of the articles/videos tend to focus on the "dark side" of Bitcoin, completely ignoring that every currency in the world is used for gambling, tax evasion, and drug trade. Bitcoin can do all that, and SO MUCH MORE! It was great to watch, and I hope future coverage can keep the positive aspects at the forefront of the discussion like this video.

Finally, a news segment that makes me actually believe this recent price increase is more than a temporary spike. Who knew the launch of Amazon coins would help out bitcoin so well despite them being completely different except in name. That BBC pizzaforcoins article also looked good. I hope to see many more pieces just like this. Now with all this recent attention I hope we can get more ways to exchange & spend your bitcoins.
