Two horror movies I watched recently that were really great were Hereditary and A Quiet Place. Hereditary was far superior though and genuinely had a few great thrills in it and not just cheap jump scares. I recommend it for even those who don't like horrors, especially as it's not just another dime a dozen, run of the mill fright fest

I actually found both of these to be a disappointment. Everybody raved about Hereditary and the trailer for the film looked great, but the actual film wasn't really that eerie, though I will give credit for great direction and cinematography, but the story just wasn't that interesting and thought was a bit cliche. I thought the first 20 minutes up to the decapitation scene was great, but after that it just lost my interest and I wasn't spooked once. I agree with these criticisms:

Winchester - movie based on the true story of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. Sarah—the heir to the Winchester rifle fortune—builds a massive haunted mansion that's terrorized by the ghosts of people killed by Winchester rifles. Which is a lot of people.

I just re watched the conjuring, Amityville Horror and Incideous.  All 3 were great movies.  Scary but not especially sorry.  I thought they were very well done.  My 12 year old son liked them and no issues sleeping.  Although there were a few  more lights on than usual that night.

Guys ive been watching american horror movies for years. I wonder if theres anyone interested in asian horror movies n give me some good examples ?
i suggest watch "the Annabelle: Creation", and it has explained to me a lot of stuff that I noticed during the different movies with Conjuring. It's definitely one to watch because you will understand it too. That main point of the film is explaining the origin of Annabelle, and the original doll is included in the movie, I was shocked by that, but it's really amazing.

The Conjuring 2. I didn't watch it but 7,4/10 on IMDb is very good rating for a horror film.

annabel and train to busan i prefer train to busan because is one of the best horror zombies of the last few years. It nailed the most important characteristic in a zombie film: great characters. You will care about most of the passengers of this damned train. Horror movies are hardly sentimental, but this one is one of the few exceptions. A film that all zombie fanatics has to know.

I advise you to watch World War Z and the continuation of World War Z 2, which was released this year. Movies about zombies, but not stupid horror, but with good sense. Who will see these Films, they will understand what I said.

I'm interested in films of various genres from the asia like the conjuring and mimic . There really are some good movies and even more horror movies. American and European are not as charismatic.

Many horror films are very worthy to be enjoyed in the middle of this first year, in my opinion the very good and newest horror film this year is (The Nun), shrinking the volume if you have anxiety or really hate jumpscare, because this is the right movie really stressful in my opinion.
