Andresen's credibility was sacrificed long ago, let's not forget that the XT/Mike Hearn episode was actually begun by Andresen on his blog, and involved both Andresen and Hearn tag-teaming. And when 2MB/Hearn failed, Andresen played turncoat again by joining the next 2MB failure. Fail fail fail.

Who cares if he committed other peoples good quality code for a few years, it all comes across as a long term confidence trick to turn Bitcoin against itself ("Gavin tried so hard, but even 500 terabyte blocksizes couldn't solve Bitcoin's problems"). Murder, but all with the best of intentions, of course. Roll Eyes

No! Say it isn't so!

Didn't you hear about the time he pretended to be Satoshi to collect some meaningless award? How could such a super-fun-guy dressed up in his lab coat and coke-bottle glasses possibly be against Bitcoin? Gavin Andresen is the most insidious force levelled against Bitcoin that exists today, he's just been playing a psychologically sophisticated "long game".

Why would anyone want to ask him questions without the possibility of other experts debunking his opinions inmediately. Sounds like it's just another platform for him to sell some Bitcoin Classic.

just ask if it's true.

In addition to Bitcoin industry executives, such as the CEOs of Blockchain and Coinbase, at least one developer attempted to convince miners to increase the block size limit via BIP 109. According to sources, that developer was Gavin Andresen, who authored the improvement proposal.

Interested in what comes out of this because I really have not used core yet but plan to when I use a new setup and the issues around it seem to be big.

Gavin has nothing to do with Core, he's part of a rogue team that is pretending to "fix" Core..... oh no wait, now that particular coup attempt failed, he's promoting himself as a Core developer again. And endorsing all the technologies in the Core roadmap. Except when he's promoting 2 MegaBloat Classic to 8btc.com, that is Roll Eyes Must get confusing, pretending to be and think so many contradictory things, eh Gavin?

how can the rest of us who don't know Chinese can follow the AMA and maybe ask questions?

it is strange to me because i have always seen AMA on reddit and only in English, a language that most of the people in the world use whereas Chinese will restrict it to a small portion of people!

https://petertodd.org/2016/mit-chainanchor-bribing-miners-to-regulate-bitcoin

Gavin is on the salary list of MIT, right?

uhm wait. he visited NSA in 2011 and immediately after this SN disappeared?

by the way. it seems Gavin is not unexperienced with backroom deals:

hello gavin, can you spend some words on this:

"In addition to Bitcoin industry executives, such as the CEOs of Blockchain and Coinbase, at least one developer attempted to convince miners to increase the block size limit via BIP 109. According to sources, that developer was Gavin Andresen, who authored the improvement proposal."

thank you!

hello gavin, are you involved in the MIT ChainAnchor Project at MIT in any way?

https://petertodd.org/2016/mit-chainanchor-bribing-miners-to-regulate-bitcoin

thank you!

anyone able to assist?

EDIT: sorry I have to correct something.

Gavin visited the CIA not the NSA.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=6652.0

there is also no prove that this event forced SN to disappear. maybe SN disappeared earlier. but it seems the last email from Gavin to SN was about the CIA visit. SN never responded ever again.

He has most of the bigger Bitcoin merchants convinced that Classic will be the best solution for their problems for about 3 months, and now he is shifting his attention to the miners. If he can get their support, Classic will be the next hard fork.

This whole thing are playing out like a election campaign for a new president. I see some similarity between him and Trump at the moment. ^hmmmmm^

C'mon! He's not Trump. And he's done more to help BTC than anyone apart from Satoshi.

Interesting, perhaps he can answer about the hype that is going on around bitcoin classic.

I heard there was some backdoor meeting between miners and classic.

What hype? Classic is dying every day. Gavin Andresen tried to convince the chinese miners to raise the blocksize and he failed. Also there are rumors that Core related people were kicked out of the meeting or simple entrance was forbidden for them. Why this secrecy? Maybe they didn't want contrarians to their blocksize increase policy?

I've asked this myself as well.
And to be honest it wouldn't surprise me!
Imo Gavin is shady as hell! Everytime he does some presentation or giving a talk somewhere I have the feeling he is acting!
The way he speaks, his faked laughter and so on. It doesn't seem to be natural imo.
