Money laundering crackdown, can bitcoin fill gap?

Was a really short news story that has been pissing me off a little bit and wanted to bounce some ideas around.
Our local government thinks gangs are cleaning their money in the local casinos and plan to crack down on this. They believe every one should use a debit card to buy chips and cash out or face scrutiny.
Totally missing the fact people use cash because they may not want the spouse knowing or worse banks giving you even more flagging because you gamble.
So can bitcoin debit cards fill this void that not being able to use large amounts of cash leave if you do not want extra eyes. The eyes are 20 cops now assigned to check the logs or be in contact with casinos.
Seems so dumb because banks will see multiple transfers by forcing debit or credit card. Would also kill the casinos.

These people would not even need to know its bitcoin, could attach a sticky maybe explaining on a basic looking debit card. Guess they might notice alot of regulars using similar debit.

Anyone have similar laws or ideas where bitcoin may work in this situation?

Using a debit card, even if it is attached to a bitcoin wallet and not a bank account the digital trail is there, so I guess it would still be very useful for preventing money laundering and catching those criminals.

Cash could still be used but there will be a need to maintain a database of deposits and withdrawals and the person required to present ID.

If law enforcement believes money is being used for illegalities they are entitled to do whatever they find useful to find criminals and/or end crimes. As for casinos, it's a time for them to adapt and serve their legit customers better... Nice time to switch to Bitcoin

Looking at creating a round about so people do not need to be scrutinized for gambling and can move there money freely without the banks questioning. If online poker is any example,they closed bank accounts that where receiving cheques from poker sites in the same way they sometimes treat bitcoin users. So I am not looking to stop laundering at all.

The problem with law enforcement sniffing around is it will always end up with people having to explain more about themselves than should be required. If I want to enter a casino and gamble I should not have a police officer eye balling me for farther questioning.
You let them police casinos,they will want to branch off that and stick a cop in a library to discourage people reading the wrong books.
Its a downward slide.


So bitcoin debit cards is my idea to help people gamble but getting the word out would be a bit of a issue without bringing the law down on you. Guess there is really no way to circumvent on a mass scale but more of a word of mouth I guess.

this is just US laws about gambling which are really stupid and confusing. besides even some of the bitcoin wallets does not allow you to gamble with the money so maybe if using bitcoin debit card becomes a thing they might prohibit gambling with their service too!

OP I think if you are concerned using a traditional bank-issued debit card you could use successfully a Bitcoin debit card as they are accepted usually where VISA and MasterCard are accepted. You just have to check the terms of service of the Bitcoin company issuing the card if they are okay with spending money in gambling establishments. Plus your family won't know you are gambling because you won't get bank statements to your house with a Bitcoin debit card.

when you use debit cards you are giving your information out so it can be tracked to you, so there is no difference between bitcoin debit card and using money with credit cards,.... and for money laundering there are a lot of other ways that doesn't even involve this much hassle.

Its actually a Canadian issue in one of the Provinces with vague ramifications,just alarmed me to think of cops sniffing around these casinos.
Lets face it a lot of the regulars go for pot breaks because they think it helps them focus,so now they have to go farther away in case a cop notices and I love playing high players.

For personal use of the debit card I see no issues and it would most likely go unnoticed. What I was thinking of was implementing a way for most of the players to exploit this work around. Few problems that seem to be glaring are eventual authorities catching on(casino cashier,cops or management with audits) and so many people using it that the wrong person blurts it out to the wrong person or disagrees full out with this plan.
Part of me thinks this is lip service because they have been saying for years they would crack down on gangs using casinos to clean their money and have done little do achieve this. Always sweat going to the cashier and having to sign a form or show id. Sometimes I sell my chips at the table if possible.
We have a high asian population and they tend to have a ton of cash,in a ten minute session I watched 3 guys pretty much going allin every other hand for 5k and reaching into their satchels for more. You kill these guys and the action will start retracting till it hits the 1/2 tables which is just donk play mostly.

There was a story couple of years ago where a gang member was at the final table in a yearly event and won I think it was 250K and they let him pose with the cheque and then swooped in and nabbed him for murder. Either the casino tipped them or some one in the casino,either way eyes are watching these places in a real big brother way.
