There's some logic here. If everybody was having a well-paid job, living in a large, posh house and driving a fancy car, nobody would want that to change, and nobody would think about a revolution. Revolutions are made by people in despair, not rich folks living in velvet.

Yes, you are quite right. This is quite a common thing, the pursuit of development. The old order must be destroyed in order to build a new one that will incorporate only the best of the old and create something new.
