Read some one say space is infinite but they have been talking lately of how its actually shrinking.
Before the big bang I started my car, maybe it backfired!
We still have religions telling us what happened and people believing, so the answer is still far out.

As long as there are gullible people, there will always be religion.

I'm thankful for religion because the scammers tend to target them, and not me.   Grin

How do you know that there was a big bang?

What do you mean? After all, Google it. Wikipedia has articles on it. Of course, it didn't exist before Hawking invented it, did it?

Cool

By George! I've uncovered that Satoshi Nakamoto is none other than Stephen and Lucy Hawking.

I recall (and many others) George being a monkey and snatching the man in the yellow hat's hat with his tail. Now George is a small boy in a jumpsuit (no tail) who continually gets into trouble with a strange older man...

I am new to this thread, but I have to insist that reruns of Seinfeld are on before the BIG BANG!!  It is a great show and all.  I have to say that I am all for a new season.  Sheldon is just always something else!

The simple answer is that it's a bad question.  If the Big Bang results in the emergence of spaceTIME, then there is no "before" to speak of.

The complex answer depends upon an understanding of points of spacetime in superposition (e.g. the moment of the Big Bang constitutes one such point), thereby removing the constraints that a linear interpretation of time imposes upon it.  Because stating the answer both with or without an explanation will draw criticism, and because not stating an answer may also draw criticism after these introductory comments, I think I'll just
