Is it difficult to add a simple ( very simple ) IRC client on the bitcoin client?
It should be not-connected by default.
This will help to connect and increase the community around the project Smiley

Erm. I don't think this is a good idea. If someone wants to chat about Bitcoin on IRC s/he can just fire up a normal IRC client and visist the Bitcoin channel on freenode: irc://chat.freenode.net/bitcoin (Edit: Apparently the Forum doesn't like non-http URLs...)

It's can be insecure, but I am NOT asking to connect your bitcoin_address with your chat_nickname on IRC.
People will be able ( if they want, as I said it is disabled by default ) to easy chat with other people connected with the project.
They will continue to transfer money with bitcoin_address, that it is anonymous Smiley

It's not a question of security or anonymity, it's a question of scope. This functionality is completely irrelevant to bitcoin's core purpose - to generate and transfer money. IRC clients already exist. The website has a link to both this forum and the IRC channel.

If you're worried people might not know IRC, a link could be added to one of the many existing guides on the web.

Bad idea, BUT it is possible to make a "Chat" button on the main page of bitcoin.org (here).
Then a Java IRC client is on that page so people will not have to install a client, or if they can't they can just chat on that page.

That's the closest thing what I'd approve of. (not like I'm that important, but what ever! Tongue)

Anyhow, integrating other services in the Bitcoin client is bad.
Bitcoin is a finance application, not an entertainment one!
And in my opinion, it only stays a finance application.

You can integrate this one on the webpage:
http://widget.mibbit.com/manager/

It doesn't need anything, it's all in ajax Smiley
