You don't have to use Google you know.

You can use Mozilla Firefox for a browser instead of Chrome.

You can use yahoo mail or microsoft mail instead of Gmail.

You can use DuckDuckGo as a search engine instead of the Google search engine. For those who don't know, DuckDuckGo doesn't track you. Here's the link:

https://duckduckgo.com/

Google has its scripts on about 80% of every page on the internet. Even if you use a script blocker, a lot of sites like Cloudflare + Captcha REQUIRE you allow Google to even access the site.

Even so - the more you block them (and don't use their services) the more difficulty they have tracking you. Do you know why they have such a dominant position? Because people say, oh well they are everywhere so no point using any other search engines.  Smiley

These other search engines basically redirect to Google for answers and queries and search tabs. I don't really see any point in it. But yea, thanks for the note.

DuckDuckGo doesn't redirect to Google. It really is a separate stand alone search engine with it's own search engineers. But I guess people don't want to try it out because if the mighty Google fell, who would they have to moan about?  Smiley

I DO block them, which is more than 98% of the people on the internet bother to do. However if you don't take this step, using other search engines IS completely pointless, because they already occupy or own the vast majority of websites on the internet that people use most.

I don't think that all this steps helps much.
It seems everybody spying on people this days Smiley
USA Government, Russia, CIA, FBI, Google etc.
Do you really think that Microsoft don't spy us?
Or that government agencies can't spy us if we use Firefox or Opera?
It's useless, we can't protect our privacy anymore.
''big brother'' is everywhere. Literally.

You can call it spying but people are leaving that data behind by there own. They just easy grab it and use it for personal advertisement and better search results. Just try to leave not that much information about your self on the internet.

This is true, the harder you can make it for them the better. However they are making it harder every day for people to maintain their privacy.

If these app games are any example of how willing people forgo their privacy, think the majority have no issue living in a world where ads are specifically made for them based on their searches. When you have conversations with people that are ok with little privacy you really can not sway them because they think they can do nothing wrong in the eyes of the law due to conforming to every step. Tend to think you can not reach them till its to late.

Yes, and so does facebook. You have to block their cookies individually.
Block all cookies from:
google.com
google.de
google.es
google.fr
google.it
...
Add top domain level from every country where you travel.
Block also
googleadservices.com
facebook.com
twitter.com
And you should be quite safe. You may also use Tor.

Nothing can be done about that. Facebook, Whatsapp and even your phone manufacturer could be spying on you.

TOR wont protect you from tracking, it will only anonymize your IP.

Try blocking google features on a andriod and suddenly all kinds of aspects are not working properly. You can not use one product without the others working,at least this is my experience with them.

I've seen ex machina movie. the main character is spied by his history on google. so his boss can predict what he loves.

I think it's possible for google to spy on us.
I feel the same like you. I don't like being spied on.

For the ones (still) using Chrome, just install the plugin called Ghostery.
You'll be surprised of how many sites try to spy on you.

Well yes there are many articles that prove that google does spy on our gmail account, for example with a quick search in google i found this: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/apr/15/gmail-scans-all-emails-new-google-terms-clarify

E-mail is about the internet equivalent of shouting over your fence at your neighbor, all someone has to be doing is standing around to hear it. Unless you use encryption you can pretty much count on everyone who wants a copy of your e-mails having one.

Starting to think I am to behind the 8ball to be able to figure out how to protect myself properly. Guess I just need to learn how its done to understand the issue. For some reason I need to always be able to see the full scope before it sinks in.

PAPER: GOOGLE sketchy quest to control knowledge… FTC ‘taking second look’
http://investmentwatchblog.com/paper-google-sketchy-quest-to-control-knowledge-ftc-taking-second-look/

These bastards scare me,think the world powers are going to break off under these big companies and not actual Countries in the future. Autism is at a way higher percentage in the tech community and they tend to be very black and white in thinking,so the idea that they are going to be pushing what is right for us is a very dark aspect for us all.
