It is highly more likely they will just find more subtle ways of collecting the info. Or try to entice them into using it out of school where it can be monitored. If you will spy on college students , you will spy on anyone. P.S. I'm sorry, but you were using GMAIL for goodness' sake. What did you expect?

It is 100% true. Google is in everything. Get yourself a script blocker plug-in for your browser and tell me how many sites you see connect to Google. Here is a hint - nearly all of them. That means almost every web page you connect to, Google knows about it, even if you didn't use a search engine to get there. Every site with a Google ad, every site with a Google app, every site with Google syndication, every site with a Google captcha, and more. Don't forget they own Youtube, Android OS, Meebo, and for when they get tired of paying around in cyberspace they also own Boston Dynamics when they want to build the terminators for the Skynet they have built. They use your cell phone to track your every move and to record your every word spoken in its presence, and that is just what is public. So yes, it is that bad and more.

Google overlords are the best!
What did we expect to happen when a high segment of the tech industry is autistic and lacking empathy.

well logically google can do that but I don't know if I care or not also I don't know if maidsafe coin project about securing the internet may help in these cases , it's like a decentralized network Not caring is why these companies nibble around the edges of personal information till they get push back. They take a step back and move forward again once the heat cools down. We have police cameras now on every corner of our downtown and that was passed with little issue a month ago. Flashback 10 years ago and people where screaming bloody murder about losing personal privacy! So what changed? End of the day they keep coming at the public till they wear them down or they change the wording. Best option if to take a terror attack or virus/hack to push the agenda home. If people continue to not care it will mean we will be in a complete police state with no privacy. The people pushing it do not even realize that is the end game because they usually are stuck in the issue at hand and unable to step back and see the ramifications down the road.

it all depends on the policy of the company google. but I am sure the company classmates and amounted google will not do this. they are strong and big as it has the trust of its users. Google will never betray it. if this is true, Google will lose popularity and then drowned by itself.

Google illegally spying on people on the internet
Actually you are spied by anyone that can spy on you. If you use Windows (especially Win10) it's Microsoft. If you browse the internet, then it's at least Google, but actually there are 100s of sites, some of them older than Google (Yahoo is one of them and that's one of the reasons it worth that much), but all the sites handling banners do spy on you. Then there's the antivirus/security solution you use. Then there's your phone. Then the TV tells forward what channel you prefer (some smart TVs were caught sending away even the discussions from your home "to improve voice commands" lol). So yeah, it's not only Google. They are only more visible.

You don't have to use Google you know. You can use Mozilla Firefox for a browser instead of Chrome. You can use yahoo mail or microsoft mail instead of Gmail. You can use DuckDuckGo as a search engine instead of the Google search engine. For those who don't know, DuckDuckGo doesn't track you. Here's the link: https://duckduckgo.com/

Even if you use a script blocker, a lot of sites like Cloudflare + Captcha REQUIRE you allow Google to even access the site.

Because people say, oh well they are everywhere so no point using any other search engines.

I don't really see any point in it. But yea, thanks for the note.
