Hey

So I started with BitCoins way back when in 2011 and sort of gave up on it at the time. The other day I realised it was still going strong and that the exchange rate on BTC is pretty steady these days so I dug out my old wallet and got it going again. Bitcoin qt on my ubuntu box is still trying to catch up with the network, just 138 days to go...

Anyway, I went back to my old favourites the rpc miner and the rpc screensaver on my work Windows box. It has the grunt to actually do some decent mining, the ubuntu box at home doesn't.

Created a new account on slushs pool as my old one had died and got it going again. All is well. Except on the pool website it's telling me to use a stratum compatible miner (and I see that he's dropping support for getwork, but he does have a stratum/getwork proxy for these situations. Cool.

Only apparently the stratum proxy and rpc miners don't get on well: https://github.com/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy/issues/9

Slush won't be "fixing" his proxy to deal with the rpc miners, fair enough, but how do I contact the developer of the RPC miner? As a newbie on the forum I can't comment on the original thread (puddinpop), and there doesn't seem to be any PM facility (or is that because I'm a newbie?) so all I have left is pouring my heart out here in the hope that someone can help me!

Help?

Just to update. I ditched the screensaver, as my employer wasn't keen.

Without the screensaver I decided to give GUIminer a try and it's amazing. I've picked the second of my video cards, which is only running 1 monitor and it's running in the background without any performance impact. RPC miner couldn't run if I was trying to use the computer!

Thanks for your help @slush! I'm now contributing to the pool more than I was before and using a stratum compatible miner! Woo!
